    I've been eyeing the Black Ovis gaiters also as they look like a really great deal but I've got the KUIU Yukons and they've been bullet proof for me. Everything from West Texas brush where all the vegetation bites back to soggy Alaska Tundra.

    All those animals were shot with a 75ELDM. I just started loading some 88s but haven't shot anything with them yet. I plan on running the 88s this year to see how they do.

    Any of those will work just fine. If I were you, I would pick 3 or 4 of those boxes that you're most interested in and shoot all 4 then pick the one that shoots the best groups.

    We hunt (glass) from sun up to about 1-1:30PM, go back to the tent and take a quick nap, filter some water then head back out until dark. We don't use a stove so there's not really much camp chores for us. Almost all the moose we've seen have been the first few hours of light and the last hour...

    Yep you're correct from what I've witnessed. After the first shot they typically run about 10 yards and just stand there. They can soak up some rounds. All of our moose have taken 3 to the boiler room. First shot would kill them but like you said, if he's still standing I'm still shooting.

    I'm curious what time you all shot your moose? Ironically, of the 4 moose I've been a part of, every one of them was shot between 9:00-9:30am. Definitely not complaining... luckily I haven't had the enjoyment of breaking one down after dark.

    Of the 4 moose I've been a part of, 3 were shot with 200gr Accubonds from a 300RUM and 1 with 168gr TTSX from a .308. Shot distances were 360, 300, 390 & 260. I have a couple friends that went and used 7 SAUMs shooting Bergers (can't remember what grain) and both killed good bulls. I can't...

    DIY Moose Hunt Price

    I agree that this can be done for a fraction of the price as both of my trips have been. Just thought it was wild that $16k-$20k for a DIY hunt was a thing. Perfect example of supply and demand.
