Just wanted to update that after going back and forth with customer service that they determined this is an issue affecting a number of users that will require an update but they don’t know when that will be available.
***Please, only looking for answers from former GAIA users***
I have loved using GAIA for 6+ years. The immense layer library, the customization of layers and shading and all that has been great. It lacks some features of hunting specific apps but made up for that with the others. BUT, it has...
I’m 6’, 188 with a 34” pant size. I got a tall frame and medium belt. With a heavy load, I nearly bottom out the hip belt strap so definitely could not fit a large.
Or, if you were asking about bag size lol, I got a 5000, but my gear is very dialed in. My friend bought a 5000 and had to...
I would agree that the KUIU bag sandwich system kind of sucks. Impossible to keep the load from sagging. It also doesn’t have the frame straps like EXO does.
The K4 is what’s coming with me on the mountain this week if that helps at all.
If you absolutely can’t afford it, get a KUIU on sale. But if you can swing, just get the K4 and never wonder if you got the best pack possible or not.
There are still a lot of things I like about the app over competitors, but they are increasingly becoming less and less attractive. Their customer service also sucks. I submitted an issue like 5 days ago and still haven’t got a response. This may be my last year.
Will probably use this winter...
FYI, I had to log out of my account and reinstall the app to fix a glitch. After I got logged back in, my account had switched back to public, even though I switched it to private a few weeks ago.
I imported a bunch of waypoints from Google Earth to GAIA on my desktop last night. Tried to sync my iPhone this morning, and it keeps saying incomplete after trying for a few minutes. Even after I went back to the desktop and deleted the imported file because I thought maybe it was just too big...
Thanks. I think that kind of highlights my struggle with the topic. I haven’t found much pattern with on the ground observations of their feeding behaviors. I feel a lot more confident and knowledgeable about identifying potential bedding either based on the classic north facing dark timber or...
Where do you all rank Aspen groves in terms of identifying likely feeding areas for elk?
Virtually everywhere I’ve elk hunted, any open meadow is basically just sage brush, I assume due to overgrazing. Some areas I’ve hunted have almost no open ground to start with. It’s either dark timber or...
Peanut butter tortillas…sometimes with jelly
Deer sausage
Ramen
Peak Refuel meal
I don’t mind boiling water during a break in the day. Probably a third of the days, we end up holed up under a tarp waiting out a storm anyway.
You’re in a pretty high pressure unit with all the standard elky terrain, but the periphery of the unit has BLM land that I’m guessing is oak brush or something like that between 6,200-7,000 that borders private land with tons of hay fields in the valleys. It’s September and you have 8-8.5 days...
The main things I do is we almost never eat out. These days, you’re pretty much guaranteed to spend $50-60 for just two people, which is a third or more of our total weekly grocery spend.
Other thing is not buying new cars every few years. While we have both had a new vehicle itch for a while...
I’m guessing that same lady was the one that told me about another road in the unit that she drove in her big truck that wasn’t that bad that we almost got stuck in and ran into another group that said it went through a ditch in the road with nearly 2’ of water in it. …so if she says it’s bad, I...
