Without a doubt the Nikon Ed50. It is well loved among hunters and birders for a reason. The optics are near alpha glass quality
you can get them new in box from Japan for under $500.
I suggest the fixed magnification eyepieces for the wider field of views
trust me you will fall in love with...
They say 1x per 100 yards and 2x for precision work
with that said I’ve seen a few people do amazing shooting to 1000 yards with the popular SWFA 10x fixed magnification scope
even PRS shooters use relatively low magnification when actually shooting
15x and 12x have two distinct advantages and are hard to replace the other. You have to pick what works best for you
big views in binoculars start at 15x but you need a tripod
12x can still be handheld, work great mounted, smaller form factor, and is great for someone who only wants to bring...
Actually they probably do, I’m just explaining current affairs. I don’t like seeing the U.S. decline in Economic freedoms while China ETZ zones increases theirs, just as much as you do. We should be leading the pack
unfortunately because the U.S. and Japan embraces more socialism, taxes, and regulations. While China creates more pro capitalist districts. The trend will only see more manufacturers moving their production to more business friendly areas.
who would ever thought that China would be the place...
I have the maven 6x30 and the edge to edge clarity are great. But I like my Kowa 6.5x32 better. They are brighter, wider FOV and sharper in the sweet spot
I recommend 80mm or bigger if you want to see deep space objects.
Pentax and Celestron spotting scopes allows astronomical eyepieces so you can get wider FOV for star fields, or Higher magnification for planets, especially if you want to see things like Saturns Cassini division, Jupiter’s...
Both can have an effect
7x is amazing when your heart rate is up……or in a windstorm….or on a boat.….etc..
7x is my most used binoculars for brighter image, big FOV, steady image, depth of field, etc..
I’m a big fan of 12x/15x on a tripod….even when glassing several miles away
big views start at 15x in Binoculars……but 12x are more handholdable during hiking and more affordable
so pick whats more important to you
I love my maven C1 (12x42) and they perform beyond their price point. But I still definitely see advantages with better binoculars
like others said, mount them on a tripod to see the actual difference. Plus look at objects far away. Before I bought the Maven C1, I bought Nikon monarch 5...
