    Tikka .243 AI

You could, but it'd probably cost you more than new dies. And yes per everyone above, the "proper" way to do an AI'd case is to set the shoulder back, but it isn't like you can't work around it if the barrel isn't set back. You'd just want to control headspace on the initial firing a different...

    Tikka t3x .243 win 108 eldm vs 6.5 creedmoor 130 tmk

With a factory barrel that's already chambered, the juice isn't worth the squeeze for most shooters IMO. If you're a rifle looney and really want to justify it, seveltri gave the reasons (though you can only lengthen the throat, not shorten it, unless you set the barrel significantly back). To...

I don't, and other than the mentioned instance I haven't felt the need too, their feel and function has remained consistent. If one started feeling different, I'd flush it.

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

My experience, fwiw. 15-20 years ago I mostly used factory 700 triggers, adjusted by me. I don't recall any failures to fire, but I definitely had issues with firing pins falling without touching the trigger. I tested them by bouncing them on the buttstock, but they clearly had issues, I'm...

    RokStok

Played with it with the low rings and the ubiquitous Howard Leights. For me and my face they make contact with the stock, but in no way are pushed out of position or uncomfortable. Tried it after with my high rings and they make contact too, albeit slightly less. I’ve put a couple hundred...

I had about eight match shooters try out the Rokstock as I have it setup with UM high rings. Everyone had muffs, no one had issues. The only comment was one shooter found the comb too low for their taste setup that way, obviously easily fixed with lower rings. When I Get home tonight I’ll...

    Charging bear/timed shooting drill

Well, some of us can’t go shooting any given day! A lot of people probably don’t have shot timers (see: every hunter I’ve ever known who doesn’t shoot competition too). I’m sure some people probably don’t want to post the worst score, and what’s been shown is pretty good IMO, not...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

It’s a TBAC Magnus, and it’s on a TBAC CB Brake.

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

So far so good. Appreciated the tool-less turrets when I rezeroed in the headlights to accommodate a last minute suppressor. Loved the reticle at 624 & 10x. My biggest complaint is the parallax knob on mine is stiff at room temperature, and REALLY stiff below freezing.

Does Energy have the potential to affect terminal performance?

All models are wrong, some models are useful. The most useful model of bullet performance I’ve seen to date is…X bullet type performs acceptably between Y1 (upper threshold) and Y2 (lower threshold) impact velocities. Once I started thinking in these terms, terminal ballistics started to add...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

Yards I assume, but exact parallax adjustment is atmosphere dependent, so it isn’t something that can be nailed down exactly. It’ll vary more than the 10% difference between yards and meters in different conditions. And based on my VERY limited experience today, it’s forgiving enough you...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

I shot mine for the first time today. Thoughts so far: I actually wanted to go to a .5 mil reticle for hunting use. I think it’s great how hard you can hold a .2 mil reticle in competition. For hunting, I’m appreciating having a less cluttered reticle, and also a reticle that doesn’t...

I’m probably going to have to pick up one of those. I used to always use offset cheek rests on my Manners stocks and MPA’s, I’d move them to the right to make room for my face to stay upright. A few years ago, I switched to running a low but centered cheekpiece; it worked well in left or right...

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44mm SHR-Mil Q&A

This scope’s going to change my life! Almost certainly not (I have way too many good scopes as is), but I do like the package. If I remember I’ll report back with thoughts after some range time.

    Why no compact nightforce FFP?

To be fair, there aren't ALL that many people all together who do both seriously. What's nice about what's been going on here, is a few of those who fall in the intersection of that Venn diagram are actually steering some product decisions, along with educating about the why.

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

It did look to me as if the Bushy was on a higher mag (possibly part of why the Bushy images look better). It also looked like there was some CA on the Maven, but I REALLY try not to put much weight in through-the-scope pictures, they're so often misleading. How did you like the eyebox on the...

Anyone tested a Burris XTR ll or lll?

I have a 3-18x50 XTR III that behaves itself, passed the drop test, and has surprisingly decent glass. The reticle is too thin for my taste, and I don't love the turret. It's been sitting waiting to be sold for a while.

    Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 new model

I was dropping things (this was about 10 years ago) on a barely padded mat over concrete. It's a recipe for breaking stuff and determining that nothing works in my experience. I didn't end up with systems that'd pass those impacts, but what I ended up with did start retaining zero much better...

    RokStok

For $200 they were a steal, I remember the frenzy. Didn't get in on the initial batch, and as I'm sure you recall, they started going for 3x-5x the initial asking price almost immediately. A heavy 223 would be a great choice for one, as it'd still be easy to drive and spot shots.
