So just to update, I ended up not using this because it just wasn’t big enough for me and my two teenagers with the stove in it. Without the stove would have been fine. Ended up going with the SO Redcliff and can’t imagine ever going back for the 3 of us.

I bought this to use as hot tent for 3 and after getting it, it's just going to be too small. I'd say this would fine for 2 with stove or super luxurious for solo. without stove 3 and gear would work or 4 friends like don't mind spooning and keeping gear outside. I set it up in the yard and...
One thing I forgot to mention...I put onX on both of their phones for the trip. They both enjoyed having it and it gave that little extra confidence that if we became separated or something happened to me they'd be able to find camp, car, etc.
We were in a 4 man North Face tent, each of us have 15 degree down bags and various insulated inflatable pads. Biggest fail was not getting our boots WIDE open the first night. They were frozen solid in the morning and I almost couldn’t get one of them on.
Since kids are still growing got them...
I brought both my boys last year (14 and 16 at the time) for their first time-first rifle. Hiked in about 3.5 miles and set up base camp and hunted from there. Hike in was miserable shin-deep mud, hike out was damn near knee deep. To my surprise they both wanted to return this year and based...
My wife calls me cheap, but really I like to think of myself as thrifty. Anyway, based on the price I couldn't help myself and bought this and the titanium stove to go with it, they shipped next day and it arrived Friday. Initial setup was easy and quick. Quality appears to be just fine and...
Last year I brought my boys to CO for their first elk hunt. First rifle in unit 14-trails were muck, it was ton of work, and we were the only 3 in our group to not see an elk. But...they wanted to go back this year so I call it a success!
I'm looking to lighten our load wherever we can and...
In front so long as I'm not standing in the sun there. I've been busted too many times when out of the shade to risk it anymore. If front doesn't work I move to the closest shade with least obstruction. Never fails that they then come out exactly where I have no shooting lane. Honestly I'd...
It's always good finding good sign that seems to span multiple years. It means you've found a spot that the critters really like. The problem is knowing generally when they are making that sign. Is it during archery season, or in August or not till rifle? Given the relatively low elevation...
Last year I was hiking past an area that was barren of sign and heard a bugle from a few hundred yards over. Sounded odd, but was enough to make me stop and listen. About 5 seconds later there was a lost calf call, followed immediately by a cow call. I figured that there was either a bull, a...
I've been getting my kid some range time the past couple of weeks and have some Hornady brass. I'll dig through the range bag later today and let you know how much I have. There is also some Norma and Browning brass is there, not sure if you'd be interested in those too.
The regs do not require it. I always wear a blaze hat and a patch on my backpack because it makes me feel safer. I'd rather not shot and honestly don't think these small pieces of gear are going to make a difference in my success.
I'm in agreement with most of the things people above have mentioned, but am surprised to see nobody balked at 3 rolls of TP. If you're not brining it in to share with the group, and don't crap more than 3 times a day that's too much! Depending on personal preference and financials I'd really...
Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like I was just overthinking it. Gonna go drop a few Benjamins on ammo and hit the range with the boys!
Most everything I’ve picked up for the 7/08 is 139-144 grains so should be good there. The -06 stuff I have is a mix or random stuff so I’ll need to get...
So I've been searching, sifting, and reading for a few days now and damn if trying to pick a bullet isn't harder than picking out tires for the truck!
Here's my situation. I'm bringing both of my boys (14 & 16) to CO for first rifle this year. Both have hunted whitetail in MN but this will be...
Don't know about you but I'd rather have my spouse coming at me with a hockey stick than a gun. ;)
I agree with you that it's the 1% gun control is aimed at but the impacts have greater effect on the other 99%. I think part of the problem is the posture of crossed arms, stomping feet, and...
I'm curious how many have read the article. While guns happen to be involved here they are not central to the issue discussed. The title of the article is misleading but sure got some of y'all pretty fired up. To me the real issue here is 4th amendment rights, lying police officers, and...
