    Mechanical Broadheads

The others covered the mechanical issue well but something that imo kinda goes along with that when considering which fixed head is to avoid heads with steep blade angles. Esp. at 40# draw weight. You will have better penetration generally speaking if you stay with a head with a more shallow...

Learning to bow hunt with compound vs. traditional archery

My mind set is the weapon is never the limitation. The limitation is my commitment to getting close and developing the skills to do so. If the hunt you desire is an up close and personal shot opportunity, a trad bow is not a limiting factor. If not filling a tag while you learn to consistently...

    Asio Gear

Agree with the above, got the mid season sherpa pants and jacket last year and it has performed very well for me. The only knock I have is the cargo pockets on the pants. They have no volume at all. Fine for a pair of gloves or phone but thats about it.

Hawk Saddle Platform vs. XOP EDGE – Which One for a Beginner?

Neither. I would encourage you to look at the Trophyline platforms for a rock solid, reliable platform that are reasonably priced.

    Identify this old broadhead?

I'm gonna lean towards it being a Pearson head like @Blockcaver mentioned.

    Rock Climbing Harness with Climber

Much prefer a RCH to a regular harness. The important thing imo though is to have a plan for self rescue. With the RCH, you can either hunt off of a rappel length rope or a short tether. If full length, keep an extra carabiner on your RCH so you can rappel using a munter hitch. If you prefer the...

How Many Arrows Can You Shoot

I am usually in the 2-3 dozen range per session. In that though there will almost without exception be two or three shots where I lose my mental focus and throw the shot. Occasionally I will shoot up to 60 shots in a session but I try to slow the pace otherwise I will fall in the trap of just...

    First hunting rifle considerations

Unless you are hunting really open areas where 300+ yard shots may be fairly common, you might consider a muzzleloader. Less effective range but more season to be in the field.

My girlfriend got bit by a raccoon this evening…

If that dont work, like other have mentioned, grab a dog proof. We use the cheapest dry cat food they have and the dollar store and a little smear of bacon grease.

    NM landowner tags under fire

Are the ranchers trying create habitat or raise a hay crop? Both seem to have been argued, as has making a profit off of elk tags. So first off, the elk dont belong to the rancher. Second if the rancher's goal is to be a profitable hay farmer, hay is the asset. If someone or something is...

    Saddle Systems

At 55, I hear you on the not as limber, lol. Saddle setups are just another tool at the end of the day. If I primarily hunted private or seldom ventured out a mile or more, I would stay with a hang on and sticks. The real advantage and disadvantage to saddle hunting is how much it can be...

    Saddle Systems

Went to the one in Chattanooga last year. Great show, esp. for folks looking for gear because of how much of it you can try at the event.
