Just a note about DackOutdoors.com. I ordered an optic from them. They are a legitimate company with great pricing. Only after I placed my order did I notice that orders will not ship for about 30 days. That’s fine, I wish I would have seen the notice sooner. The notice is on their website...
Here is the ballistic data for the Buffalo Bore SuperCharged Lead-Free in 30-06. Uses a Barnes TTSX 168gr bullet, assuming a 24" barrel.
BC: 0.47
MV: 3,000 fps
With a copper bullet I would want a terminal velocity of at least 2,100 fps to ensure proper expansion, so you're good to about 500...
A co-worker and I are looking to do a deer hunt in his home state of SC. We’re looking at a couple of areas in Sumter National Forest. were going to scout these areas this summer, but don’t know how long/many days we should spend at each spot. I am thinking maybe 1 full day at each site; 2 if a...
Take a look at the Terminator muzzle brakes. They are now available in the US. I have one on my Browning BAR 30-06 and my Henry 45-70. They are expensive but worth it. Take a look on YouTube. They do a bunch of comparisons of different MBs.
Look at the Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44 HTMR. The only thing it doesn’t have is illumination. It is a CDS scope so you just zero it and then use the CDS system and pull the trigger.
I second Ed Brown along with Dan Wesson. If I were getting another 1911 it would be the new Ithaca 1911. I’m a fan of the new Ithaca guns, and the ones coming out of Upper Sandusky, OH are amazing. And you can order it directly from Ithaca.
As others have said: you can’t boost a signal that isn’t there in the first place.
Here’s how it works. You can get an external antenna for your vehicle such as a high-gain antenna, but you cannot exceed a certain power limit. When you’re using a mobile device such as a smartphone, you’ve...
I just got a Leupold VX-5HD 1-5x24 CDS w/Firedot for my Henry 45-70. The glass is amazing. I also have 3 other Leupold scopes (2 are VX-5HD 3-15x44; one is Firedot the other is HTMR) and a Freedom BDS Red Dot.
Leupold are great scopes. IMHO you can't go wrong with them.
There's no such thing as "easy and cheap to find ammo" these days LOL. I enjoy shooting it, but I'm having a muzzle brake put on mine as we speak.
Here's some interesting ballistics comparisons for various 45-70 ammunition that you might find interesting...
It took me nearly 3 years to find my LH Browning BAR w/nickel receiver in 30-06. Constantly checked GB and various other sites. I got word that Browning was going to be making a limited production run on them, got ahold of the model number from Browning and waited. Finally got a hit on GB. It...
You’re not looking to eat it, just kill it. That bullet velocity at 200 yards will do the job. I’m putting one of those on my AR just for that reason. If you’re shooting beyond 200 yards, you’ll want a 10-15x scope anyways.
An alternative that I would suggest is to look at the Leupold Freedom RDS Black 1x34 BDC w/mount. It's purpose built for a .223/5.56 55gr bullet. Once you dial it in at 100 yards, the the Ballistic Dial System allows you to dial in your range to the target, and just keep the red dot on it. No...
