Rifle hunting, I would take good binos and a tripod. Every year I see guys with a little pair of binos and they do ok but if the guide has good glass sitting on a tripod and he’s seeing elk at a distance and you can’t you’re going to want to look through his. That gets old after a while.
I’ve...
On the 48 x 64 concrete floor I’m talking about the concrete guys put little 4x2 blocks on the ground then put the rebar on top of the blocks, as they poured they put the wire down and they would pull up with a hoe before they started to screed it. They were great concrete guys that had been...
About 25 years ago I had a 48x 64 foot concret floor poured by a concrete company. They came in and put down some modified gravel, tamped it, put in rebar and some wire then poured the floor. To this day that floor looks great and I have never noticed any cracks. About 10 years ago a friend had...
One is a grocery getter that will pull things around town…gas …the other is a work truck that will pull a loaded trailers cross country, in a head wind, up big grades.
Call the Mescalero Apache Hunt office in Mescalero, NM and talk to them. They did shut down their trophy bull hunts for a few years to get back to world class bulls. I’m not sure if they are hunting trophy bull this year or not but it’s worth a call. Hualapai Tribe in AZ offers trophy elk hunts...
I’ve had campers for 20 years and to me $25,000 campers are about all the same. IMHO it’s the truck that counts. Little trips of a hundred miles or two is not a big deal but coast to coast or traveling all summer….a 3/4 or a 1 ton diesel is the right tool for the job ! Look around a camp ground...
I had a neighbor leave his 2019 Ford Superduty diesel at the Ford dealer and had his whole exhaust system stole along with three other customers trucks. They cut it off up by the engine and took the whole thing. Dealership wouldn’t pay for it but his insurance covered it.
Those are both great on elk. I’ve used them both on elk for a long time with great success. Personally IMO one Isn’t any better than the other, they’re both great elk bullets.
After 17 years of putting in plus a loyalty and Hunter ed I finally drew my 20th …non res …elk POINT. Dang, when I first started putting in for AZ it only took 9 points to draw the unit I’m after. I don’t think theres an end in sight now.
6’2” 190 lbs the Kuiu Attack pants are the only hunting pants I own…4 pair. The fit on me is great I wear the 34 tall and they fit tall people great. I like the pockets and that the back pockets both have zippers.
As big as Jones has gotten I hope he didn’t go home and beat up his girlfriend/wife again, he could really hurt her now. I expect to see him going to prison in the future.
The oil and gas is a cruel business. When things are good they are good and money is flowing but when things slow down you are gone . I have two of my kids that worked for Chesapeake Energy for 7 years each and when things slowed 100 people were told one morning you have 10 minutes to clean out...
I’ve had a few tripods but the one I bought from Cameraland last year is the one I like the best. SLIK CF 634. I like everything about it and use it a lot. Holds my 12x50’s and my Swaro 65 spotter great. Call Cameraland and mention you are a Rokslide member for a nice discount.
It all comes down to how much extra weight can you stand to haul. I have some friends that are straight up Billy goats and as tough as they come they carry full size spotters, tripod, full pack, binos and everything you need and never slow down then there’s other guys that can only haul so much...
I’ve hauled water way up in the mtns using horses weeks before the hunt. First time I did it I had about 20 bottles and had them on the ground under a tree in the original plastic wrap, then but sticks and leaves over top of them. When I got back for them some little critter had found them and...
I have a 22 Tacoma. It’s a nice little truck but at 6’2” tall it is a small and tight to get in the seat I also have a F350 crew cab with a 6.7 Powerstroke now that’s a truck.
