    WSA23-05 Sheep Closure

Gee I wonder if the record temperatures had anything to do with their inability to find suitable numbers of sheep during their surveys. It just keeps on getting better. Wonder what is next?

    New to Wasilla/Palmer area

The Alaska Outdoors site is terrible. Most every specie in Alaska can be hunted with a pickup, pair of boots and some determination. Do some research, look at a few maps with the unit regulations and just go check it out. It's not rocket science, no matter how difficult most seem to make it...

Bowhunting the west, can you be successful doing it or is it just a idea?

If you think that bowhunting is just wasted effort, maybe bowhunting isn't for you. Hopefully you can find some enjoyment in it, and learn along the way. Both will make you a better bowhunter in the long run.

How are people affording these crazy home prices?

I wish I had the mortgage payment and 2.15% interest rate I had in 2021, instead of the mortgage payment and 5.35% interest rate I have now on essentially the same size house with less acreage that cost 110K more. I have no idea how most people are affording the home prices in our area these...

    Just hanging out in the

After years of wanting a place, I broke down and bought some land this past winter, 10 acres on a lake. We built a cabin this spring on it and I cannot wait to spend my winters out there trapping and fishing. Little work left on the interior, but nothing we can't finish in a few days of work.

    Less Physical Hunt ??

Been to Kodiak three times in the "spring", once in Feb, and twice in March from a Boat. Still have yet to shoot one on the beach, but we surely seen a few down that low, mostly nannies/kids. Hiking up to get to Billy's through all that snow is almost worse than the brush in the fall. Fun...

    How do grizzly bears taste?

I ate a backstrap out of an interior grizzly once and it was very good. Most of the others smelled pretty bad that I’ve been around so we’ve never considered keeping the meat.

two questions about moose camp for a DIY

Ear plugs. Fire every single day. We never leave camp, stay very quiet aside from calling/splitting wood, shoot moose nearby.
