Most every specie in Alaska can be hunted with a pickup, pair of boots and some determination. Do some research, look at a few maps with the unit regulations and just go check it out. It's not rocket science, no matter how difficult most seem to make it...
If you think that bowhunting is just wasted effort, maybe bowhunting isn't for you. Hopefully you can find some enjoyment in it, and learn along the way. Both will make you a better bowhunter in the long run.

After years of wanting a place, I broke down and bought some land this past winter, 10 acres on a lake. We built a cabin this spring on it and I cannot wait to spend my winters out there trapping and fishing. Little work left on the interior, but nothing we can't finish in a few days of work.
Been to Kodiak three times in the "spring", once in Feb, and twice in March from a Boat. Still have yet to shoot one on the beach, but we surely seen a few down that low, mostly nannies/kids. Hiking up to get to Billy's through all that snow is almost worse than the brush in the fall. Fun...
I ate a backstrap out of an interior grizzly once and it was very good. Most of the others smelled pretty bad that I’ve been around so we’ve never considered keeping the meat.
