Yeah I know it’s thick. It made these marks bad even during the first firing breaking in the barrel/fire forming with a mild load of 7828 and 180 Bergers… Bolt closes fine. I don’t understand how there’s not other obvious pressure signs and these are so bad.
I have nasty ejector marks on a christensen ridge line 28 Nosler I’m messing with and should be nowhere near pressure that’s basically destroying brass aka bending the rim between the 2 ejectors. Primers look fine. Not hard bolt lift or extraction. Even found a group that basically shoots 1 hole...
Maybe this was said but if it’s a 600 yard and under backpack elk rifle, why not run a short barreled 300wsm? Do you reload? It would be perfect for that kind of hunting.
What advantage do the 88gr eldm 22cm have over like a 108gr 6mm creedmoor for hunting? Little less recoil? I’d think 6mm would be best of both worlds with killing but still flat shooting. I have a 6cm and I just don’t see a lot of advantages to a 22cm version for big game.
I cannot decide what to do after reading all of this. I run 10x50 EL’s now and a separate RF for western hunting. I’d like a RF bino with ballistics but don’t want to sacrifice clarity too much since I spot a lot of game and details with my EL’s. Especially at low light. Just don’t want to lose...
