Talk Me Out of a Knight Mountaineer

Alternatively, I could order a .45 caliber Mountaineer and the .50 caliber barrel kit for less than a .50 caliber gun. I don't have an MBA, but something feels off about that.

Talk Me Out of a Knight Mountaineer

Does anyone know if the Disc Extreme's stock fits on a Mountaineer? For the price of a straight stock Mountaineer I could get a thumbhole Mountaineer and a Disc Extreme.

Drill/Tap Nitride Barrel for Front Sight

I am looking at picking up my first smokepole here shortly. One of the possible candidates is the ever popular Knight Ultra-Lite, which comes in different variations of being drilled and tapped for a scope only or including iron sights. I am specifically looking at picking up a nitride model...

    how dumb is this/are people?

Anyone else click on that link and go down several rabbit holes? I'm trying to convince myself that I don't need 5 acres of land in Joshua Tree, CA

Mile High Hunt and Fish Expo

I requested Friday afternoon off, so I hope to be in the crowd asking Robby and Travis (hopefully not too) stupid questions.

    Upcoming Year

I found a tag with suspiciously good odds and I think it's worth trying. Given a highly suspect right shoulder that will likely need some serious surgery at some point, this will be my first year giving the smokepole a try while I shoot 3-D during the summer to make an educated decision if six...

Talk Me Out of a Knight Mountaineer

I might be able to snag a reasonably priced Mountaineer during the "Going Out of Business (Again)" Sale that's invariably coming in the next year or so.

Talk Me Out of a Knight Mountaineer

There are alot of configurations that are still reasonably priced. If you look at the rifle I posted, but change the color of the stock, you save several hundred dollars. FYI, there's an official statement from Knight on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/knightrifles I honestly...

Talk Me Out of a Knight Mountaineer

https://www.muzzleloaders.com/product/mountaineer-shadow-gray-straight-stock-muzzleloader/ Looks like Knight talked me out of it with that price increase. $1657.99 for a Full Plastic Jacket .50 cal Edited to add: Oh, I forgot, they then add on the 11% FAET in your cart, so it's $1840.37 shipped.

Talk Me Out of a Knight Mountaineer

Update: after doing more tag research and application planning, it looks like the tags that I will more than likely draw are legal to hunt with a .45. As a result, I'm wondering the following: 1. What is the recoil difference going down to a .45 (vs. a .50)? Would the Ultra-Lite still be a...

    colorado cow moose

I'm thinking about putting in for cow tag for one of the new wilderness-only hunts. I figure the odds might be better and my physical therapist could use a new sportscar based on my insurance paying him to fix me. That said, if anyone knows of a unit where truck camping access is available, I'd...

    Cell Phone Tripod Mount?

Appreciate the responses! I made the mistake of mentioning this to my wife and (since she's "helpful") now I have something coming from Amazon that may or may not work. The one thing I do know is that it costs $8.49, so I don't have high hopes. Will report back as to whether or not it's a...

Talk Me Out of a Knight Mountaineer

I am looking to purchase my first muzzleloader. I want/need something general purpose for all species here in CO , so .50 caliber it is (although there could be a .45 in my future for deer/antelope). I know the Ultra-Lite is very popular, but I'm leaning towards the heavier option and the...

    Cell Phone Tripod Mount?

I am looking for a way I can mount my cell phone (just the phone) to my tripod. Can anyone recommend a mount for me? Basically, I do alot of hunting solo and this would help with taking pictures instead of trying to prop my phone on my pack. Thanks in advance!

Colorado 2025-2029 Big Game Season Structure

If I were king for a day, this is how the early seasons would look like west of I-25. I could give a toot about the plains since I don't have $8500 to shell out to an outfitter for a muley. There are absolute monster bucks just a ten minute drive from my house but they will only be chased by...

Colorado 2025-2029 Big Game Season Structure

The bigger issue is that muzzleloader always starts on the second Saturday of the month whereas everything else has a fixed date. That means that muzzleloader is sometimes good timing for deer and sometimes good timing for elk. IMO, they need to revisit the dates completely and decouple deer/elk.

Colorado 2025-2029 Big Game Season Structure

Except the way it is being implemented is asinine. Just move the start date of archery deer to August 15th to all units west of I-25 and call it instead of this unit by unit thing with an additional tag/season. I predict that the early archery deer tags will be the hardest archery deer tags to...

Colorado 2025-2029 Big Game Season Structure

Exactly what units do you think will be getting the early archery tags given that it's implemented as an additional season in certain units (the same way early rifle is)?
