    Vivo forest tracker esc durability

Forest Tracker AT got their first spin this last week. 4 days hunting ruffed grouse with about 25 miles put on them. I found them to be very comfortable throughout the hunts. I wore KUIU Scree short gaiters with them 95% of the time. Going through, up, and over cedar swamps, logged aspen...

    Bottom of 1st metatarsal discomfort

I am finding success by crafting a moleskin pad to go over the top of the sesamoid area in question and then leukotaping over it. I suppose it just is artificially replacing the fat pad my foot has seemingly lost. Anyways, discomfort is gone. I think I’m gonna have to cut back on the...

    Bottom of 1st metatarsal discomfort

You may have had padding at some point but foot pad fat atrophy is a thing. My left foot pad is definitely thinner than my right.

    Bottom of 1st metatarsal discomfort

Any updates on this? I am experiencing quite literally the exact same thing except it’s just on my left.

    Laponia discontinued

The way that toe area is designed has it collecting debris all the time even with gaiters on. It’s not particularly easy to clean either.

My gear/pack layout from base layers to binos

Atlantic Rancher Ranger Sweater came in today. It feels incredible. Super robust, soft, and almost airy feeling. The neck closing is smaller than what I am used to having. It is not uncomfortable just is sitting higher up on the collarbone. A heftier weight buff might have a tough time going...

BIG fleece beanie? Don't make me ask my Mom.

The mil fleece watch cap still one of my favorite beanies.

    Sitka Intercept vs Kuiu Kutana

I have both. Kutanas handle heat better, lighter weight and dry faster. Intercept is IMO way quieter, and you have the odor management and knee pads if that’s something that matters to you. This is just my two cents but if I was hunting hotter more open country I’m running kutanas. If I’m...

Any more feedback with this? I’m seriously contemplating pulling the trigger on it. Thanks.

What type of shotgun for upland birds?

Weatherby Orion O/U 20 gauge. First time I shot the sporting clays course it was like reuniting with an old friend. Fit is so important. If you want to learn more, the Birdshot Podcast hosted by Nick Larson has been a wealth of information. I mostly hunt ruffs and woodcock in northern MN, the...

marsupial belt most of the time but also my old mil nylon web belt is my preference when hunting w/o a pack

Good book suggestion for winter read list

Cormac has a very particular style of using little to no punctuation which makes a lot of his sentences at times seem like an unfinished thought. First time I read him it took me a bit to get used to it but once that coding switched on it was like reading normally. It is hard to get a flow...

    Canoe Barrel Harness/pack info

First time in the BWCA was at 11 months, grew up going there at least once a year for a long while. I really dislike the barrels. I prefer a big dry bag hanging from a tree. If you do go that route, the dry bag can go in whatever relatively cheap (or not) pack that whoever portages a canoe...

    2024 Plans & Gear Upgrades

Probably late in the game, but I have been extensively thinking about it. Grabbing a Rossi Tuffy Turkey .410 and throwing a RDS on it. I'd get to do some testing and patterning with the intent to take it fall turkey hunting. All in sub 4 lb turkey gun which would lend itself to the way I like...
