Fixed Blade Knife for backcountry hunts

Thanks mate. Always enjoy seeing what people are actually using in the field. A bird & trout is a pretty good option for game prep. And I like orange handles too. I lost a knife when I was about 12 out rabbit hunting, and that lose still grates on me decades later.

    “Long Range” .270 Win?

Thats interesting because I have been thinking along similar lines but havent actually done anything about it as yet. I have an action that would work for a build like this, but fast twist 270 barrels are pretty much non-existent in Australia. 270 is our minimum legal calibre for sambar deer, so...

Proof Research non-prefit for Tikka question

My son picked up a 26" Sendaro contour Proof barrel blank off the prize table at a PRS match. We had it fitted to his Tikka T3 in 308 Win by our gunsmith. It came up fine, looks good. Pretty sure it was 1.2" at the tenon section before threading.

    My knife builds

Hi mate. Only a couple at this stage, but something I will be working on more. The most recent bowie style knife is a modern bowie in post 5 of this thread. I have just started working on another modern bowie last week. Right now its just a profiled bit of steel waiting for heat treatment. There...

    Fed. 210 vs GM210M - your experience

The majority of my ammo loading is shooting matches at various distances out to 1000 meters. I have used a lot of both standard and match versions of Federal primers in small rifle, large rifle & LR magnum. I think its highly unlikely that you would notice any difference between a standard...

    My knife builds

No worries. Its a bit of time to write it up. Hard to know how much detail to leave in. I will cover all the steps, its just a matter of not having too may photos. I did some of the next step yesterday, but was rushed so forgot to take pictures. I will update the post with next steps soon.

    My knife builds

Okay. So at the request of MightyMatt, I am going to add in a buildalong post here. I will Edit it as I get more photos to try to keep is all together instead of it getting spread through this thread. I might have to rethink that as I build it up if there is a limit to how many photos I can add...

    Cold Bore Challenge Q&A Thread

I went out to the rifle range on the weekend to zero my 308 Win for the cold bore challenge. I think the scope died, as it was acting very flaky when I was trying to get the zero worked out. I stole a scope off another rifle I had along with me, so think I have it sorted now. My son took some...

    My knife builds

The G10 has glass fibres running through it at well as the resin. So the combined package of the pin through the handle, the handle material itself and the G-Flex epoxy I use for the glue up makes for a pretty strong combination. I once put on a handle I wasn't happy with one an early knife. I...

    My knife builds

Thanks mate (y) I'm a fan of Andy's work, and definitely not trying to rip him off. That knife probably has more positive feedback than anything else I have made.

    My knife builds

Thanks mate. Appreciate the comments. Those G10 pins have worked well for me so far. They seem pretty strong, and the size and colour choices definitely give some additional variation to the handles.

    My knife builds

Another full tang puukko finished. The blade on this one is 4 inches long, so about an inch longer than the last one I made. The steel is 2.5mm SF100 with a saber grind. The handle is black and orange G10 which I textured after glue up, with G10 pins & lanyard tube. Contrast on the handle...
