    Buying used with no warranty

I priced up a new bow with most of the accessories and it was over $2,000. Just keep using my 12 year old Mathews. Put new cables and strings on it. Bought my son a nice used Mathews well equipped for $500. I guess I'll just keep buying used. Trying to find used lefthanded 32" draw bows takes a bit.

Elk Bullet for 7mm rem mag

I'm pretty sure the old tang safety M77 had a 9.5 twist. I shoot at 5300 feet elevation and they shot sub moa in my Ruger factory barrel.

Elk Bullet for 7mm rem mag

The 180 Scenar shoots great in various twists. Using H1000 or RL26, you can get 2900 fps or better out of a 24" barrel. My old 77 Ruger 9.5 twist actually shot them very well. On a few large bull elk, black bear and muley bucks, it performed very well. Just for something different.

Hornady Bore Driver Eld-X Range Report

If I was shooting 4" groups at 100 yards with something that gave me the terminal performance I wanted and using irons, I'd simply call it good.

    colorado cow moose

Actually a lot of moose get killed on I-70 around Eisenhower. So perhaps selectively increasing cow tags in areas with high moose/car collisions makes sense. Otherwise I am 100% with you. I guess the wolves will handle things in short order though.

    Kibler Woodsrunner .54 Kit Assembly

If you ever want to burn some black powder, I'd like to see that rifle in person sometime. Have a range I bet we can get on just east of town.

    Kibler Woodsrunner .54 Kit Assembly

Kibler is rolling out a Hawken kit in a year or two. Probalby no lefty but a buddy has several very nice Kibler kits he has done. Like to see a finished pic too.

    223 AI velocity potential

My 223AI shoots 75 amax at 3000 fps into tiny little groups with a 22" barrel. That's a Pacnor 8 twist in mtn rifle contour. Never tried 88s in it.

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Keep getting light primer strikes on my 9.3x62. The original smith, well known on the fire, chambered it stupidly short. Second smith, well known guy in the Springs, lengthened throat but appears to have bumped shoulder slightly. So now expanding brass with 375 sizer, then necking down to 9.3...

    renting a handgun Colorado

Few years back two guys were bowhunting where I hunt bears. They were in thick oak brush calling elk during archery. One guy starts screaming, other guy runs over, bear has first guy in his jaws. Second guy pulls 44 mag and kills the sow. First guys forearm is busted from the attack. So it can...

    6.5-284 with 147 ELD experiences?

Finally got out and tried something new today. Using my H1000, I started at 55 and worked up to 56 with 140 berger vld. Out of the 23" barrel I was getting 2900 to 2940 in that charge range. The 55.5 gr 5 shot group was very consistent at 2920 fps and .75 moa. I may load up 10 at 55 and 10 at...

    Euro Mount Question

This one had dried leather all over it but was surprisingly intact. Soaked 9 days, skinned it, soaked another 10 days. Degreased in dawn water for a week. Then hit it with peroxide. No boiling, no simmering, just patience and 90-100 degree water.

    Hilleberg Tent Input

We bought a Keron 3 for above timberline wind festivals in CO. We're both 6'7" and fit fine in it. I didn't see much weight premium to bump up to black series so that was route I went.

    Shorty Hunting Rifle Chambering?

We use 6.5x47 lapua and 6.5 creedmoor for that with short barreled rifles.

    Euro Mount Question

In future I'd macerate those as long as it took to rot it all off. After the hide is soft, put on gloves and cut that all off. Then back in the rot bucket till its clean. Might take a month but it'll clean. Then soak in warm dawn water for a few weeks. Then peroxide. Where you are now, I think...

    Planning public land pheasants

I would not go to Kansas at this point. I would consider strongly Iowa and SD. I hunted SD last year and we had plenty of birds. Hunted and farmed a bit in KS last year and in the areas of central and western KS I was in, birds were extremely scarce. Its gonna take years to recover. Good luck...

    Well....I've had enough

Pheasant hunting and random upland hunts provide great motivation. If I can't do those, I'd be pissed. Best of luck and stick to it.

    Rebarrel or cut my losses

I'd trip that and simply buy a Bergara, Seekins, Tikka, etc. Just my opinion. Get the threads fixed, name the shop that did it incorrectly, and move on.
