As others have mentioned, keep in mind those 10 minute YouTube videos or 30 minute episodes of a show typically include 7-10-14 days worth of hunting condensed down... and in a LOT(if not most) of those cases they're on OIL hunts or private lands, and a lot have the budget to buy into much...
Thanks for the response. Budget is big deal - its just hard to justify spending $$$$$$$ on what is essentially a toy - yes, it has a utility usage but at the end of the day its for pleasure. From my research so far I'd love to stay under $30k, and that's really the top end of the budget. Less is...
So the other day me and the wife went on a fishing trip with a guide on one of the rivers here… needless to say I had a great time(better than the saltwater fishing I’ve done) and while I’m not looking to purchase something tomorrow I’m just browsing around and realize I know next to nothing...
I hunted less after having my first kid, and then even less after having my second kid three years ago… to the point that I didn’t even hunt last year at all! It was part burnout and part guilt. How can I be out having fun when there’s work to be done at home? As a full time employed homeowner...
I also don’t see the difference between paying for a guided hunt and what is essentially an unguided hunt. To my knowledge most of these scouting type services just offer an overview of an area with hotspots on a map where they’ve seen game in the past or drainages where they’re known to hang...
Same here, and I think a lot of people could stand to do the same.
Turn off the news, turn off Facebook, go outside and look around. I’m not saying the world is perfect, but it’s not ending and it’s not even close to as bad as they make it out to be.
Seems every news station and source is...
Bad leadership prevents people from being fired.
You end up with lazy “leaders” who don’t want to go through the process of documenting problem employees so they just let them go.
Unions have no issues firing people when the processes are followed.
To be fair though, in my industry I’ve...
It’s always ego when you boil it down.
Of course the knee jerk response is “but… I like to share my stories and adventures” so share them with your friends and family. Why does the opinion of strangers on the internet you’ve never met matter to you? Ah, see, there it is… ego boost.
I will offer one piece of advice that everyone can and should use.
When hunting in an area with other folks, instead of taking on the role and attitude of them being competition, be part of a team.
This doesn’t mean you need to hunt for them, but being friendly and cool goes a lot further...
I know its the internet and you can never really know what some rando is gonna do.
It should be common knowledge and practice - if someone tells you any info or gives you a spot its not your spot to share unless whoever shared it specifically told you that it was alright.
Further, if someone...
The real problem is that people cannot be honest with themselves.
Dude if I couldn't hit a 6x6 block at 40 yards consistently that means I shouldn't be shooting 40 yards at anything else period and need to go back to the drawing board.
Heres a good way to keep yourself honest - at least it...
I'm not gonna roll around in the mud on the politics, but I will say this...
As a deer hunter, it has been tough learning a new game(bear hunting). I've seen a massive number of people complaining about the predator numbers - yet two things are common with these guys:
1. They're rarely taking...
Once upon a time, Gaia was far and away the best mapping app I had used. OnX was glitchy as hell and they wanted a ridiculous premium for the same data. Once upon a time, Gaia was like $40 a year and you got the same data as the $150/year OnX sub.
Since Outside took over, they've started to go...
I have a quick question.
If I purchase a preference point between now and December for Montana, will I be able to also purchase one with my application next year so I could go into the draw with 2pt?
Thank you.
would you rather them tell you to pound sand and you can foot the bill for a new engine?
Edit: I suppose there's a different way to look at this.
GM and Fords model is "there's no problem" - but if there is a problem, we have an updated part that will fix it - but there's no problem. If it...
For all you gloom and doomers -
The first gen tundra has numerous electrical, transmission and engine issues for the first 18 months. Now though, I don’t think anyone would argue that the 4.7 was a great engine.
The 5.7 had crankshaft issues that blew up the engines, and had 14 recalls in...
I don't know what crossbow you have, but maybe its an older model or something as most of the ones I see advertised are 450fps+ - and while I'm sure they suffer the same "inflation" as do compounds, even still they're 100fps faster. They're easier to shoot, and they can be scoped.
IMO I don't...
