Thanks all. Of note, the buck in the gator was killed with my Grandpas 30/30. It was bought in the 60s and he never killed a buck with it. made it pretty special. The doe was his girlfriend, she lived about a minute longer than he did.
I drew an antelope tag with 0 pts in WY last year and got a buck and a doe. Going to NE bow hunting muleys otc this year. I need to pick a state for elk and start building points. Just haven't decided which one.
I process 6+ whitetails a year myself with a random spattering of cheap knives. They get the job done but i know when I spent money on a good grinder/slicer/stuffer/sealer that i would see a benefit. Have a hard time seeing the benefit with a high end knife beyond the cool factor.
I had the right shoulder done in 2012. Now it's the left. With bow technology today, I only bought a 60lb bow and with the limb screws buried it's 63lbs. I'm happy with that. Rarely don't get a full passthrough
I have the cabela's commercial sealer. It's a huge step up from the food saver I was using before. I vacuum seal everything but burger. I'd recommend it to anyone but a professional processor...
I bought a new LEM grinder so I could use the double grind head. It's a GAME changer. Saves a ridiculous amount of time and avoids the problem being discussed here all together.
I bought that BOG adrenaline tripod myself and it doesn't work as well as id like for my vortex diamondback hd spotter. The mounting pad goes the wrong way and while I love the premise of the switcheroo, it adds a lot of play to the system. I'm looking for a different tripod but I guess that's...
On week 3 of recovery from shoulder surgery. Reading through random threads on here about packs, tripods, and mule deer hunting. Lots of time to kill.
Already bought new arrows for the season. Went to a 340 from a 400 but haven't shot them for obvious
Nic from STL MO, starting to get more into out of state hunting. I'll hunt just about anything but focus mainly on whitetail in Missouri. Had a killer 2020 season and took my first out of state trip to Wyoming.
I'm also using an ink bird itc-308 with an upright freezer. I set it to 36 degrees with a +/- 2 degree deadband but can always bypass the controller and still freeze with it. I also put it on casters so I can roll it into the driveway to wash it down.
I tried a chest freezer but it built up a...
I'm a diehard whitetail hunter from STL but am starting to get into out of state hunts as i get older and can afford them. Killed my largest bow (162 7/8 green) and rifle (mid 130s) whitetails this year.
