How many of those places you hunt require copper?
Opening up the option of using the most efficient bullets would allow you to step down in recoil, while also improving lethality, hit rate, and usually overall external ballistics as well. Would take your lighter calibers from being marginal on...
Nothing that looks quite like that.
This is a 1x prism scope:
https://vortexoptics.com/vortex-spitfire-ar-1x-prism-scope.html
Most are going to be more like a small tube. Like a mini scope. What you have pictured is a red dot sight, that cannot work with a etched reticle.
For peeps, look at...
For your purposes, I think the BOG would be great. It’s pretty solid for the price.
For light duty use, I’ve got my kid shooting a .223 Tikka off of a Manfrotto that was like $50 at Walmart, and it’s got a hog-saddle type head on it that I got off Amazon. I wouldn’t use it for a heavy gun...
Fortunately, Binos don’t have to hold zero like rifles do. I can’t say I’ve tried a ton of different brands, but I will say, at this price point, I look for medium to low Mag and don’t chase “features”.
Meaning if you have two sets of Binos that are $500, and one is a plain 8x42, and the...
No, definitely not. Wish they would.
I did find this though:

Chinese scope makers must have read these threads and decided to fill the market gap. Lol.
Who wants to drop test one?
That was actually my first thought when I saw the pic, before reading the post. I was thinking “wow, these guys are dedicated to experimenting with bullets…he did some experimenting on a fresh carcass”
Gotta be more to the story.
I agree. The last 450 pages have been a decent intro into the idea that maybe the .223 can be used for big game. We should be able to start to drive the point home over the next 450 pages or so.
13.
Gun has a mag, and then I throw one of those 10 round plastic strips that Federal usually puts rifle rounds in, in my pack. I think I would be perfectly happy cutting one of those strips in half though. Glad y’all asked. I’m going to start saving some weight and carry a mag plus 5 in the...
Sounds like a fun test someone could run.
Maybe overlay the larger circles over the original hunting drill target sizes, and shoot the drill several times to see what percentage land in or out of the circle, and how does it compare to when the same shooter runs the drill with a honest 1-1.5 MOA...
Depends on what you mean by reliable.
Most rounds fired before parts breakage?
Problem free feeding that is not dependent on user technique?
Safe trigger mechanism?
Form has chimed in on all of the above and said Tikka many times.
I think he lists Sako and Sauer as decent options to look at...
I got a Tikka Compact in .223 for my 10 year old to hunt with. When he isn’t using it, I do!
It’s a great little rifle and has a stock spacer so it will fit an adult once you add the spacer back in.
If your state requires bigger than 223, then go .243. But don’t underestimate how much more...
I’ve gotten to the point that I don’t use waterproof at all, unless I really really need it. For me, that means below 32F and snow on the ground.
In warmer situations, I’d rather the boots just get wet, and then change socks and/or “walk them dry” which can be done with a very breathable...
Agree 100 percent.
My dad is about the same age, and even for someone my age, these are the two choices I would narrow it down to. Distant third choice would be a Tikka 6 creedmoor. Distant third solely due to the initial expense of set up, having to re-chamber a barrel right off the bat...
I would not spend the money on a flow through for a bolt gun. Nowhere near as quiet. I think all the advantages I have seen are good for semi autos though. More reliable in a semi auto action.
You can comment on anything, anywhere, but the OP asked who was interested in a scope with a specific set of specs that don’t exist in the current market. So suggesting something different (and that already exists) is of course going to be met with discussion on the pros and cons of those...
I was waiting for one mostly because of budget reasons, but now I’m at a point where I can just about afford the $1200 Maven or a used Nightforce. So maybe they are doing me a favor, bumping me up a couple tiers of riflescope quality.
If they do release an upgraded 6x, that would at least be...
Must be, lol.
I’ve been wondering the same thing.
The 12x top end is part of what will help this scope achieve good eye box, field of view, and other benefits. If someone wants the trade off of more top end zoom and less of the other features, they can already buy any number of other...
Yep, most of these types of laws are poorly written and show the lack of knowledge on the topic the legislators usually have.
Like bullet diameter having any correlation to lethality.
I get the weapons/seasons rules are there to manage game numbers and herd counts, opportunity, etc. They...
