    I have a safe full of rifles in similar calibers as the OP. I would buy a bolt action 223. I shoot mine 10 times as much as any of the others. It’s enjoyable to shoot, ammo is less expensive, and reloading components are available.

    No Big Game Tags Drawn, is this normal?

    I can’t image being a western resident not being able to at least get an antlerless tag. We are definitely spoiled. I can hunt deer from August 15 to Jan 1st. Throw in a month long bear season and pigs year round.

    Gheenoe Build

    I grew up with a Gheenoe 13 footer and a 7.5 HP Merc. I had a boat long before I had a drivers license and ran that thing all over North Florida fishing and hunting. My youngest boy still has one. Great little boats.

    What is the most devastating .30 cal bullet you are aware of?

    I’ve had deer drop on the spot, yet when cleaning / butchering them there is no apparent damage to the spine. My guess is they were stunned, I don’t know the medical term, by the impact and bled out before they could get up? I’ve shot a lot of deer and this is pretty common.
