I've been using a Sitka Jetstream for years. I use it cause it works for me. Quiet, breaks the wind, sheds light rain and ok in a pinch. Very versatile for my use. Oh and it doesn’t pick up trash when I go thru cover.
I have been using a RCH for at least 10 years now. I did send mine off to Custom Gear Modifications (CGM) and had them add linesman loops. Mine is an older Petzel.
First thing to consider is what State can you draw a tag. Then you have to decide what type deer you are looking for. A legal buck or mature 4x4. I apply for a tag in NM, CO, WY and UT every year. Last year I drew CO this year UT. I have enough of points that should easily get me a WY tag...
Went for my daily walk today down by the beach and while there I saw a bird watcher with the new Kowa 55A. Made the mistake of asking her if I could look thru it. Wow it was amazing. It was as clear and sharp as any I have looked thru, FOV was also much improved over the 553.
I hunted 3rd season last year near Gunnison. Opening morning it was 6 degrees. As the week went on it got progressively warmer to almost 50s. I have hunted many 3rd seasons and it could be sunny at 50 or in the teens with snow. Have to be prepared.
Im at the belief that if you want to shoot a bore to bore bullet you need to use a sizing die to be consistent. I have been testing Fury and Thor. The Fury Universal fit are pretty good and have been fairly accurate for me. Using the test pack and buying pressed bullets have not worked out...
Diamox has worked great for me the last 4 years. I don’t get sick but do get a slight headache and worst of all cant sleep. No more problems with Diamox. Start taking it a couple days before you reach elevation then a few days after.
