Wildstreak,
It really depends on what you do with your RF and what you hope to do, and how much you want to spend. Definitely look at Leica products, fantastic glass, great ranging, lots of choices, which is best for your depends on your wants, needs, and plans.
Sig is another to look at...
I have or have had multiple Leicas and a few Sigs. Right now, have a Leica 2700 and a 2800, as well as a Sig 2400 BDX. Got a reviews up on them on the optics forum that might help. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses, depending on what you value and what you need. All three will...
If you want to enter ballistics, and keep it under $1k, you want to look at a Leica 2700 or a Sig BDX. I have both, as well as a 2800, but that one will bust your budget just a bit. Any Leica below a 2700 will not allow you to use a custom curve.
Differences:
Leica 2700 has on board...
Up until recently, my son had the 4.5-14, 40mm, 30mm tube with side focus on his rifle. We use this rifle as his primary hunting rifle, but also for shooting out to 1400 yards. When using the higher powers and shooting way out there, or just trying to shoot tight groups at somewhat longer...
In the last couple years, my understanding is Leica has totally revamped their CS and basically doubled their staff. I only needed them once and was absolutely taken care of. In addition, in the last year, the folks I have talked to that have had to use their CS have been ultimately happy...
Yeah, might go ahead and do that, since I want to focus mostly on the scope anyway for this one. Then do a followup on the 3k, gotta check timelines with Sig though. Got some more work to do with the scope since we only got it on a gun just in time for our Aoudad hunt in early January...
Sorta, but not no. I actually wrote a fair part of it, but some other stuff has come up around the testing....that 3k BDX...particularly. And the new Foretrex connectivity. So, am trying to decide how I want to proceed, whether to just put up what we have done with the scope and the 2400, or...
Ryan,
How's the eye relief on these? I checked out a pair of the 15's at DSC, and it seemed a little tight for folks with glasses, at least to me.
Currently running 10x's and a spotter, wondering if one of those should get bumped from the bag for a set of 15's or better. Can't carry it all...
Not sure what the problem is, Catlin could probably sort it for you pretty quick if you PM her. Mine works, but I have an early version, have not DL'd what they announced today yet.
Sig BDX System Review: 2400 BDX Part 1d
High center, you can see the plate 24”x48” yellow and red plate at 1390
Subsequently, while in Northern Indiana and under more favorable conditions (heavily overcast skies, but no rain or mist), I tested on 12" and 18” white square targets made of...
Sig BDX System Review: 2400 BDX Part 1c
Ranging Performance
Not a lot of street signs on this West Texas ranch where I tested the 2400, but there is a big mule deer buck in there somewhere….
Before we get into the performance numbers, one note on these results. According to Sig, the 2400...
Sig BDX System Review: 2400 BDX Part 1b
Setup
No way around it, Sig has done a great job making connecting their RF to a phone or to a Kestrel easy. I am not much of an instruction reader, but I had the RF connected in minutes and had ballistics loaded and good to go. Soon afterward, I...
This first review will cover the Sig 2400 BDX, it’s general function, optics, and it’s ranging performance. The second review will look at the Sierra 3 scope in the BDX platform and its integration with the RF, as well as provide some thoughts on how the 2400 BDX stacks up vs the 2400 ABS...
I just realized I did not address all you say here.....yes, the ABS is super nice. It has some benefits that no other RF on the market can match. It has some things some people, not all, don't like too. I'll cover that more in a future review when comparing it to the 2400 BDX, but no doubt...
MMmmm, not sure if I understand what you mean by that, so I apologize if the following does not answer your question. If you mean you can build your curve to your exact numbers....ie enter bullet weight, BC, velocity, etc. yes, you can do that. That has been possible since the 2700b. I agree...
Well, I am sure it will be out shortly for you to have a look. But the app is not at all like the one for the 2400 ABS. The one for the ABS does a ton of stuff. The one for the 2800 does basically three things....firmware upgrades, RF configuration in terms of basic function, curve...
Yeah, I have thought about all kinds of solutions for this problem. It seems like it would be easy, but maybe not. I mean, the Foretrex uses a mini remote sensor. And even Kestrel's solution seems like it could be incorporated into an RF's body pretty easily. But I'm no engineer, so it's...
I got it sent to me through a private connection. My guess is it's not up publicly yet, as the embargo went until this morning. Should be up shortly, I would think.
