Current CPW commissioners promoting proposition 127 with lies.

Looks like prop 127 was decisively rejected by voters: https://coloradosun.com/2024/11/05/colorado-proposition-127-results/

What would have happened if I would have shot this round?

Classic thin-walled cylinder failure of the case, caused by the stress associated with the interference fit between the bullet and the neck. Bad QA/manufacturing control on the part of the cartridge company. Cracks in the neck appear frequently after firing cases that have been reloaded...

What would have happened if I would have shot this round?

Wow, $122 a box? Go to Ammoseek and search for .300 RUM. I'm seeing prices under $50 a box. https://ammoseek.com/ammo/300rum

    Wilderness Hunting Reciprocity. Good idea?

I appreciate your opinion and I agree that Wyoming has a bad policy, but I don't think that combating a BS rule by making another BS rule is the way to achieve your goal.

Hunter swept away crossing river in Washington

Scary story. As an old kayaker, I can tell you that rivers are always deeper and faster than they appear from above. The rescue video is worth checking out. https://www.idahostatesman.com/news/nation-world/national/article295736504.html?tbref=hp

Stuff overheard at the range or local gun shop

At the range where I volunteer, I've seen a surprising number of shooters who don't fully understand how their windage and elevation adjustments work.

    Do you hunt from home?

I almost always hunt from my house, but I'm fortunate to live in Southwest Idaho. Planning an expedition to Caribou-Targhee next spring though, so that will require a campout.

Oregon hunting guide killed by accidental discharge

Zap, I see your point from a fatalistic perspective, but maybe the best way to phrase the safety comment is: "If all parties concerned practiced basic safety procedures, the guide would not have been shot."

Very interesting position, especially for a young engineer! I note that professional registration is required.

    Eurooptic Experience *Resolved and Updated*

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. I always had good dealings with Eurooptic. Seems like an honest mistake in their product description, but the way they handled your case is not very honest. They should make it good for you.

Hunter shoots charging grizzly in Montana

I think you are right. Shooting perfectly justified, but not taking part or whole of the grizzly into possession. I found this policy that seems to address the issue: https://idfg.idaho.gov/sites/default/files/file/ma/enf-2.0_disposition_of_seized_or_unclaimed_fish_or_wildlife_2015.pdf...

Hunter shoots charging grizzly in Montana

Wondered about that myself, in Idaho. I could not find any policies, and none of the reported stories mention it, to my recollection.

    Can we legalize suppressors now?

Thanks for the correction; I misunderstood the law in Cali.

Oops, my mistake. Just checked and it's lots more complicated than I thought.

What the closest face-to-face encounters you've had with animals while hunting?

Almost got trampled by a small herd of elk while hunting huns a few years back. The elk around here need to learn some basic manners and watch where they're going 😁

    Can we legalize suppressors now?

Some states expressly forbid suppressors and/or full-auto firearms. California won't even allow most people to purchase firearms with threaded muzzles.

    Voter turnout

It sure was! Quite suspenseful early on. Exciting and entertaining; not at the level of Bush-Gore or Bush-Kerry, but a good one nonetheless, and I'm glad it was called before daybreak Wednesday. Glad that prop one went down in flames in Idaho.
