    Kuiu Tiburon Alternative

I thin you'll be happy with them for your stated purpose. Mine have held up pretty well to 2 years of wear, they are pretty fuzzed up, but only have one hole where they got caught on some old barbed wire hiding amongst some vines. I will likely replace these next year and am looking at some...

    Seek Outside Saker, coming soon...

Putting some sil net (the same stuff SO sends to seam seal their shelters) in a cross cross pattern on the tyvek will mitigate the pass sliding around.

    Custom 1911 - Double Stack 10mm/45 Super

SVI could probably do what you want if you're willing to spend $3k or more and wait a year or two. I shot one with a 6" barrel in .40s&w at a uspsa match. What a pistol! Hitting a 6" plate at 25 as fast as the sights settled was quite easy compared to my glock 34.

Feedback on Cooper Backcountry in 30-06

You can put the weight of the Tikka and the Cooper all up in this to get an idea of the increase in recoil. You might also figure out what the thread pitch on the Cooper is and get a side discharge brake for it to avoid having it kick up as much dirt and dust when shooting prone.

    New stuff from Seek Outside

Bought a multicam lid to go with my talon and hipbelt pockets today.

Scope recommendations for 6.5 CM Barrett Fieldcraft

My overnight backpacking trip turned into a short day hike due to too much snow on the trail, so I went to the range today to sight in the Fieldcraft and confirm my ballistic table from the Vortex LRBC. First 5 shot group after getting it close measured .7" at 109 yds, then I adjusted up and...

    Backcountry Tripods for binocs

I got the bino tower, optics balance adjuster, bino stud, and tripod. The RRS stuff seems nice to have but it is not a necessity. I will probably order it down the line. Edit: I just called and talked to him and he told me what to get.

    Backcountry Tripods for binocs

I recently purchased a KDC granite peak tripod. I haven't used more conventional tripods so I cannot offer you a comparison, but at something like 9 oz for the tripod, bino tower, and optic balancer mount, it has been a revelation for me. Easy to set up and take down and the ball head works...

    Regular length wide pads

That might work well with some lightweight straps to hold it in place.

Scope recommendations for 6.5 CM Barrett Fieldcraft

OK, Bushnell is sending me a new scope, but since they don't make the 3-12 LRHS anymore I had to get a 3-12 LRTSi. I'm now going to have a 28oz scope with an exposed windage turret (but apparently it locks even though the manual doesn't say how). I'm not sure I want something that heavy on the...

Bushnell LRHS - Anyone have any experieince with these?

I received my 3-12 LRHS and sent it back to bushnell same day, elevation turret was busted, took ever increasing effort to turn then I could hear something rattling around in the scope body. 2 emails in 2 weeks (they've had it for 3) and no ETA on when I might get it back. Looks like I will be...

Red Dot on Woods Defense Handgun (Glock 20)

Here's a thread about red dots on carry pistols going back 7 years. IIRC there's a guy that does a lot of fly in hunting in AK that has broken about every micro red dot out there on his pistols, goes by GJM. EDIT: Seems the consensus is the Trijicon RMR 2 is the way to go.

Drying out down bags in a floorless with stove

I noticed in my floorless shelter that a layer of thin plastic placed under my sleeping pad greatly reduced condensation from ground moisture. If you are forced to pitch over ground that is going to have a lot of moisture in it this could make a huge difference.

    Exo bag on revolution frame

Looking at the exo bags and their attachment method it looks like you would be doing some sewing. The revo frame relies on threading some webbing attached to the bag through tri glide looking things on the frame, then using the webbing on the frame for compression. If you sewed that webbing to...

    Canvas Cutter

I have no experience with their stuff, but I cannot imagine backpacking with a shelter that is basically a 5.5lb bivy sack.

    Seek Outside Fortress/Goshawk

I have an older fortress 4800 with a side zip. It doesn't go all the way to the top like the goshawk, which would be nice to have. I love having an extra option of getting into the main packbag for items that aren't used as frequently as what I have in the talon, but I still want on a regular basis.

    Idaho is now CLOSED.............

The middle class is shrinking because they are moving into the upper class, not because they are sliding into poverty. Do younger people have higher education and housing costs relative to average real income? Yes, I know it for a fact because I am in the same boat. You can still get ahead by...

    Regular length wide pads

Klymit static pads are 23" wide in standard format. I am very thin at 5'11" and 155, but my shoulders and arms still hang off 20" wide pads. I wish more manufacturers made regular/wide pads.

Any Texans use this inhaler when you come out elk hunting?

Other than my friends and drivers that actually go the speed limit or more, Whataburger is what I miss most about Texas.

    How effective is HECS Baselayer?

I was in Oklahoma for a whitetail hunt a few years ago and a commercial for HECS was on at the lodge. I noticed the animal they were closest to when touting its effectiveness was an armadillo. I've had a few armadillos run into my boot when standing still while hog hunting, so I wasn't...
