Point Creep - is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

They didn't introduce wolves to MN, WI, or MI.

    Good news / Bad news

Agreed. Getting guns across for hunting is extremely simple. Getting across if anyone has a DUI is not.

How's your 2021 application season going?

Wyoming general elk with 4 points so that was no surprise. I’ve struck out across the board so far, otherwise.

Montbell Alpine Down Parka First Thoughts

I'm 5'10", 165. I have no idea what my chest measurement is, but I have a large and consider it a perfect fit. I hate jackets that feel even slightly binding, though, so I didn't even try a medium.

    Wyoming general

As for broadheads, anything with a scary sounding name will work just fine. Obviously the scarier the name, the more deadly they will be.

I’d have your buddies send a screen shot of their points. I suspect the information you are getting from them isn’t totally accurate.

3 points only got you about 40% chances in the regular general draw. 4 points might not be a lock next year.

Drew our tags, as expected. Good to see it, though.

Even with point creep, I'll be ok. But you are correct, point creep will dash the hopes of many this year.

The good thing about going into the draw with adequate points is that there's no stress leading up to results being posted. The only unknown for us is if anyone will draw a cow tag as well.

    WTS ###Buyer/seller beware of swampokie

I actually appreciate this post. I missed the other thread and now know to avoid the seller. Anyone who would list that scope as "like new" is someone I don't even want to consider buying from. Had cooler heads prevailed on both ends, the outcome would have been better, but it doesn't change...

Where is the Ammo Really Going?

I have a buddy who is a manager at Scheels. I don't pay attention to this stuff so I was amazed when I went to his store recently and the ammo shelves were empty. He said the same handful of guys shows up every day and buy whatever they can before it even makes it to the shelves. Said they...

Montbell Alpine Down Parka First Thoughts

I used the Alpine (not light) this past hunting season. Can't say enough good about it. I'm considering buying another to keep on hand in case they ever quit making them or raise the price.

Shore fishing on the Gulf - Rookie needs help!

In general, I much prefer eating saltwater fish to freshwater, both for taste and texture. On my bucket list is to catch a legal snook to cook up.

Shore fishing on the Gulf - Rookie needs help!

I don't know! We grilled up a bunch of the fish we caught and ranked them. The mangrove snapper finished dead last. That's not to say it wasn't delicious, we just found them less delicious than the other fish. Redfish finished second. Of all things, porkfish finished first.

Shore fishing on the Gulf - Rookie needs help!

I ate a few upper slot redfish that I caught last week in SW Florida. They were delicious, as were the trout, snapper, and stone crabs I also got into. I don't know how it compares to the fishing in NW Florida, but the beach fishing I've done in SW Florida is a blast. I can't get enough of...

    .270 vs .270 WSM?

I've had a 270 WSM for about 15 years now. It has killed a ton of critters. I can't say any of them would have been less dead had I used a .270 Winchester. The WSM will kick more, burn more powder, and cost more to shoot. It will be slightly faster.

270wsm on moose as Back up gun....?

270 WSM is more than adequate for moose. Choose a good bullet and take it without a second thought. My dad and I each killed our bulls with a 270 WSM and 140 grain TSXs. Neither bull went more than a couple steps.
