I don't know the terrain where you're going but...
if you are going to stretch it out, 300 all day, the 7 just puts pencil holes in animals anyways right? :p (kidding)
i carry my heavy 30 cal set up for when i want/need to shoot far, and my light set up for when i don't.
in all reality...i'd...
no dice for me or my buddy.
archery bull, first choice observatory, second choice bethel.
looks like ill be spending my summer chasing salmon and crabs on my boat and then chasing cows OTC with my bow here, and headed to Idaho for rifle.
life really aint that bad is it?
i couldn't tell you as I run an MSR pocket rocket 2, which can be had for about 40 bucks and i've never run into any issues with it.
im with the majority here and wouldn't want to mess with the alcohol stove..risk spilling your fuel, etc.
go on amazon and type backpacking stove.
ton's of knock offs for under 15 dollars will pop up. that style of stove isnt that technical really.. its essentially a blow torch with folding legs to hold a pot.
i live out west and only hunt out west..
probably just end up going with the halon or something else with a bit more speed to never have that nagging buyers remorse in the back of my mind.
i guess that's the thing with regards to distance..im a 60 yards and under guy. no slider pin sight..60 yards and less.
i enjoy the smooth and forgiving nature of the htx and wonder if the 15-20 fps would make or break it for me.
received mine yesterday so have not had timee to go out in the field to do any testing, but my initial impressions looking up into the shadows of fir trees at 7-800 yards away at dusk were great!
Much clearer, much brighter, and i actually thought they felt better in MY hands than my old...
Anyone here shoot a Mathews HTX?
Looking to upgrade from my 2012 diamond outlaw, which has been just fine for me..but the draw cycle is a bit harsh, and makes longer shooting sessions less fun..
went into the local shop just poking around, and they have last years HTX's on sale for a decent...
oh I hate all of you! ;)
just ordered, 50 dollars off with the fathers day sale.
looks like the diamondbacks will be truck bino's.
i'll post up here after I receive them.
getting real close to pulling the trigger..
anyone have an idea on how much of a difference i should notice over a pair of 5-6 year old vortex diamondback 10x42s?
worth the upgrade for the price point (sub 400 dollar binos)?
Just get a decent pair of binos, maven c1s for example, and bring your tripod.
unless you are trying to judge the score of a bull 800 yards away(and it sounds like your spotter wouldnt really be up to this task), leave the spotter behind.
you can use 10x bino's to spot elk at 8-900 yards easily...
the only reason i got an RTIC 65QT cooler (paid 150 for it) was to double as seating on my boat. Space is a premium on a boat, and having a cooler you can sit on repeatedly without the lid caving in was nice.
I always said I wouldn't succumb to the fancy coolers as my old igloo did just fine on...
I dehydrate my own meals mostly, but as I sit here at lunch, there is another option for a very easy, store bought, light, quick cooking meal i thought I would share.
I saw these at costco..6 pack, 8 bucks...
