That’s sorta boxing yourself out of the reliability zone. Sako would be at the top of the heap if it’s not too close to a tikka. X-bolt? Weatherby MKV? Sauer is supposedly coming out with a left handed 101, but who knows when or how available they will be in the states. Beyond that?
Jim Greens are a good option for a wide toe box, but none of them are goretex or waterproof. If the OP is good with some wet feet, they are worth trying.
The Hanwag Ancash II GTX are a solid mountain boot that has a standard width heel and a wider toe box. If you are potentially going to be in wet conditions, cold conditions, and rough I would probably lean more that direction. I have a pair of them up for sale in the classified section that was...
This is a really good point. People seem to start off thinking about recoil, but the ultralight stocks also tend to have much poorer ergonomics which also negatively impact shootability across all calibers.
Mil is the way. The only reason to continue with MOA is to deny that the creator of the universe loves 10s or to say, “meh, speed and accuracy aren’t that important.”
If you made that scope smaller and lighter, with a zero stop and capped windage, included slightly larger hash marks in the reticle for my aging eyes, still made it durable, and could keep it in stock, I’d pay double at least.
I replied to this thread without reading all the responses first. Went through those afterwards and found it interesting. I find it refreshing that the majority of the responses are so positive given where the rifle scope industry has been headed in the last few years with a preponderance of...
Yes. I’m in. Probably a couple. For what you are describing, 20 oz and reliable. Hell yeah. Don’t need illumination. Don’t need and 18x or 24x top end. Don’t need a stupid tree reticle.
I don’t have an answer for who or how to build one of these now. I think it used to be a Form 1 process to make your own suppressor. But I don’t know where that process is now. I also don’t know if that gun has baffles inside the tube, but I believe the barrel is ported from a few inches ahead...
I don’t disagree with anything you said, and I am a dog person who has bird dogs who need to be off the leash to run.
What I’ll say about bear spray is that if the conditions are right, using it likely keeps you from having to shoot a bear that might have cubs or a momma moose. There have been...
