    Desperately need help (corn tortillas)

This or I just heat them on my cast iron tortilla pan. I use two per taco. That helps. Not with my waist. I make my own that are very good but not always that handy.

    Racoons on corn pile

You will have to get rid of them. Or continue to feed them. The coons on our old hog lease in Florida learned how to get corn out of a feeder. They could climb up and swing it dumping corn out. If your dumping corn on the ground then its going to be fait game for anything that eats it.

    Favorite deerstand?

If your not lugging it then get a big comfortable climber you can sit in a long time. I have two Summit Titans. Easy to move around on a new property. I’m a big boy. 6’1’ 300 plus. I feel safe in my Titans and can sit for a long time. I can stand up safety and adjust my junk without feeling...

What’s your go-to for “Straight Wall” season?

I was as well , very skeptical. After two large bucks and a doe all at around 180 yards DRT I’m becoming a believer very quickly. I can tell you its better than my old slug gun.

    Shoot or pass

Depends on your goals. If you want to kill it and its legal , kill it. If you have a big buck as your goal and you have one tag you cant use your tag on a doe or smaller buck. I don't have a tag issue and hunt in a state that has long seasons and very high limits. So I shoot does in the start of...

    September Truck must haves

If I don't buy a new truck in the next two months I will need an oil change before deer season.

    Socks?

Yes on both questions. I wear them in Alabama deer hunting with uninsulated muck boots. Temps can be 20-65F. I have some that are going on their 5th season. This type hunting is riding to your stand not hiking heavy packs into the back country. They are affordable so if they don't work out...

Why do we buy soft shells?

They work for me in the SE, NE. I prefer them with Windstopper. I’m not walking around or hauling into the back country. Quiet and comfortable. A base layer, soft shell vest, top and bottom and a breathable rain shell will carry me in most situations I encouter. A puffy wouldnt last long in the...

    Accupoint 3-9 vs 2.5-12.5

This. I would go with the 2.5-12.5x42. I’m not crazy about adjustable parallax on my deer rifles but it wouldn't deter me. Either one is going to be fine. You might consider what is more important. A bit more versatility or 8ozs more weight. Only you can decide that. I dont walk much in Alabama...

Cut barrel or Leave well-enough alone?

If I wasn’t going to be able to get the idea of chopping that barrel out of my head I would go ahead and do it. Its just a rifle not your arm. But that is me. I cant stand the mental torture of a plan not executed. I just never been a leave well enough alone guy when Valhalla is only one step...

Cut barrel or Leave well-enough alone?

I heard a saying once about customizing or building a rifle. “Never fire your donor rifle”.

Same where I am from in NW Ohio. The whole area is in approx 1 square mile road grid (sort of).

Why do straight wall seasons exist?

I hunt with family once a year in Ohio where I was raised. There it is primarily a urban sprawl issue. Its pretty hard to find a place where you cant see a house a half mile away. They used to do a lot of party hunting or drives thru small wood plots but you don't see much of that anymore. At...

What’s your go-to for “Straight Wall” season?

We did hunt at Salt Fork a few years. I killed a pretty nice 7 point there. We were still shooting slugs back then. Maybe 2006/7. Got a little crowded there for us so we went back down to Wayne. Then guys started getting old dropping out and hunting the farm made more sense. Plus the hunting got...

What’s your go-to for “Straight Wall” season?

I hunt in Seneca County now. On a family farm. For decades and up until just a few years ago we hunted down in Galia County in Wayne National Forest in the big timber.

I’m using both the eneloops (white)and the eneloop pros (black). I’m not having trouble with either. I guess I bought them 3 years ago. I think I have them in AA and AAA.
