I had hunted general area B for three years, for antelope and deer. I shot a nice pronghorn in 2019, a very nice muley in 2020 and settled for a good whitetail in 2021 because the mulies were just nonexistent. Because of progressively fewer sightings and quality of bucks, I decided to give that...
Yep. I had a bad experience with one of their Woodsmans a few years ago. Never again. I bought it based on their early rep for great accuracy. It seems like once the brand took off, and they were blowing product out the door, quality control went down the toilet.
Update:
I just received the Outdoorsmans B.O.S.S., and my Kowa 884, with stay on case, fits perfectly inside it. I think it's going to work very well as added travel protection.
As a bonus, it's got a thick lining of wool and should make a great hand warmer muff with the addition of a Hot...
In the field, I just use the Kowa stay on covers for my two spotters.
For travel, I have a Maxpedition large wine bottle case that fits my TSN-554 w/ stay on, perfectly. Looking for something similar for the TSN-884 that I just acquired. The Outdoorsman H.O.S.S looks interesting, but I question...
Thanks, Doug. I'll probably be calling soon.
I only have experience with Breakthrough Photography and was wondering what others were using, and their experiences/opinions.
I'm a big believer in filter lenses as (fairly) cheap protection for the objective lens on my spotters. I have an X4 on my little Kowa 554 and it does a very good job.
I just acquired a new Kowa TSN-884, and need to get a sacrificial lens for it, as well. My question is what lens are others...
Thanks for the reply. I'm going to give the tape a try first, if the scope ever gets here. Ordered almost a week ago, and still no shipping email.
I can always order the green cover if I'm not happy with the tape. I'm just not thrilled with the fit on my 554....though it has given good protection.
Would I be correct to assume that pressure wouldn't be as heavy during midweek as a opposed to the weekends, on public, especially a few weeks into the season?
I'm retired, so I have no time constraints, and the license fee isn't an issue. I haven't hunted pheasants in about 30 years now, but I always had a blast!
My travels take me across the state on I90. Would you be willing to list a few towns that I could start doing research on for public...
Thanks for the info. I've always been curious, and wondered if it would be worth spending a few days on my drive home back east, after a big game hunt in Wyoming or Montana.
I only see the vet wrap in black and bright colors. I don't need camo, but tan or khaki or some earthy shade of green would work. Doesn't look like it's available, though.
