Thanks, so much, for the info!
I'll be leaving FL on 9/25, and start my hunt 10/1 in Falher, which is about an hour south of Peace River. Whether I go across at Pembina or Sweet Grass, it looks like travel time is the same at 48 hrs, or so. However, travel time in Canada will be way less from...
Would you have a link to a site with the actual written word from USFW? I ve been searching, but can't find anything on 24 hr USFW manned sites or the text. I would appreciate it very much.
Yeah, true.
I have an Alberta moose hunt coming up in 5 weeks. I'm going to call the crossings in Portal, ND and Sweet Grass Montana to see what their position is. It's really going to suck if I drive 5 days each way just to bring back 50 lbs of meat.
If that's the case, one would think it a simple matter in this age of technology, to get a memo to all border crossings, spelling out the correct procedure.
Rolled up some 7-08
40 rounds 120 TTSX over CFE 223 for an Oct. moose hunt in Alberta.
20 rounds 140 Accubonds and Big Game
20 rounds 139 LRX and Big Game
Man, that's a tough decision. Both are spectacular scopes. I will tell you that I have a 554 and an 884, and the 554 would be the last to go. With its optical quality and just 28oz, it has a permanent place in my pack.
But that 774 is such a great all rounder, I would hate to give it up...
Good luck on your moose hunt. I'll be hunting moose in Alberta as well in Oct.....Peace River area.
As far as tape on the muzzle, I'll slap a piece on when I remember. But if I don't, no big deal. It has not affected POI that I can detect.
Well, yeah. Cuz how you gonna be the most fantastic hunter that you can be, unless you have just the perfect ensemble for every possible situation. Don't forget to overthink the footwear choices...
I use a zippered wheeled duffel as my checked bag. My empty pack goes in first and everything else gets packed on top of it.
Coming home, if I have boneless frozen meat (deer or antelope) in the pack, it goes in the overhead bin and my normal carryon goes under the seat as my personal item.
I don't remember a time when I didn't own a pocketknife. But I grew up in a much different time. Similar to manitou1 I had a .22 rifle at the age of six.
It's a much different world now. I think to answer your question, it depends on each individual's level of responsibility.
Another vote for straight.
Both my scopes are straight, while a couple of my buddies have angled. After switching back and forth over the years, I'm always happy to be back behind my straight scopes.
You're going to love that TSN-66S.
