Should hunting be uncomfortable? -Bringing up young hunters

So much of a "right answer" depends on the kid. Some fall in love with hunting immediately, some take longer, some never do. The more hooked they are the more they will tolerate the suck. Age plays a role too, but some are pussies from a young age and and never change and some are tough...

    What happened?

My guess is that either the angle or the entrance is off slightly in the OPs picture (probably the angle) and that only one lung was hit. It's really easy for critters to be more quartering to or away than we think when we're at full draw and ready to send it. I agree with Geewiz that if...

Fighting boredom in all day sits.

I don't really enjoy all day sits. I will occasionally do it, but rarely. It's just not my jam. Even when I do an all day sit I'll often change stands mid day.

    Stone Glacier...Krux Evo vs. X-Curve

Re "flat back" vs a "curved back"... I was told to stand with my back against the wall. If I can fit my hand between the wall and the small of my back, I have a "curved back". If I can't, my back is pretty flat. Is that still the standard way to measure this?

    Bad day in the field

MuleyFever- sounds like you and I handle this scenario similarly. I beat the hell outta myself for this kind of mistake. I'm pretty darn selective on the shots I take (and I bet you are too based on this post) but it certainly has happened a few times in my 41 years of bowhunting big game...

Things you have noticed in the gym

Yep, some interesting stuff happens at the gym. Saw a manic guy attack another gym member when the guy told him he was running the wrong way on the track. Several of us had to hold the manic dude down until the cops showed up. There was another time when a guy was jerking off in the middle of...

    Sig Zulu thoughts?

Yep, they are awesome! I'm a bowhunter, so the ability to hold them steady with one hand (while my bow holds the other) is a game changer. 12x would be too much for my whitetail needs, but it sounds like you understand the pros and cons of that choice.

    Let's hear those PBM Stories!

I missed a huge buck at about 3 yards one time when I was a kid. He was coming through and I couldn't see anything until he was directly in front of me. I didn't expect him to be moving at mach 5 though! I had to ID him as a buck I wanted to shoot and let the arrow go, all in a split second...

WTB WTB left handed 40-50 lb bow

I screwed up my shoulder and will be shooting with a mouth tab. I need a lefty bow that is 40-50 lbs, has an adjustable draw length (no modules), and is reasonably priced (I'm hoping this is a one season deal). If anyone has anything like that, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks, Scoot

    Good bow for my wife

If you want her to really like it, let her choose. In my limited experience (with only one wife... but observing lots of them), I'd say wives have a tendency to like things that they pick out more than things that are picked out for them. YMMV
