    It'd be hard for me to dump all those components (H1000 and bullets). Start with a serious cleaning on the rifle. I mean back to metal. I'm sure someone will be along to tell you it doesn't matter, but it does. Then, I'd measure the CBTO of the factory load that shoots well and start there...

    I really have no answer - my best guess is that that is a lot of force (energy) for a whitetail-sized creature. I had a Ruger No 1 375 H&H once upon a time, a beautiful gun with great nostalgia. Shot a coyote while deer hunting - total carnage on a scale I have never seen.

    What is long-range? A 140 Berger at 2800fps will put you at 700yards before it drops below 1800fps - is that long enough? The 130 Classic Hunter at 2950 will get you to 800 before dropping out. More gun will not make up for lack of proficiency. Can you now reliably hit at 700 yards?
