A lot of passion regarding scopes right now...
I use the Z3 with BRH on my hunting rifle and have had no problems. The reticle should easily get you out to 4-500. Crank it up to max power and bang away.
If I'm dialing - SWFA, NF or Bushnell. The weight is the compromise...
****ONE IS SOLD - ONE LEFT****
Both scopes will come in Burris rings with sunshades, Butler Creek Caps and Throw lever. Used scopes but function as expected and look pretty good. They have paint pen witness marks on the rings and copious amounts of blue loctite used on the mounts. I do not have...
Ahhh, 'Scope Jesus' says it's bad. You've never actually had one though...
It's a scope I wouldn't dial with and that was not my recommendation. Just offering something different. Best of luck to the OP it's a list that may be hard to fill - everything is a compromise.
Snarky Edit - Form is a...
I'm gonna go outside the box here - Swaro Z whatever with the BRH reticle. Really it's just a MIL reticle with a wind tree.
Capped adjustments, easy use out to farther than your bullet will perform, great optics. Get your load dialed in and make a cheat sheet. With 1/2 MIL divisions, you could...
It'd be hard for me to dump all those components (H1000 and bullets).
Start with a serious cleaning on the rifle. I mean back to metal. I'm sure someone will be along to tell you it doesn't matter, but it does.
Then, I'd measure the CBTO of the factory load that shoots well and start there...
NF ATACR 4-20 F1 about 500 rounds of 308 on it - like new scope. Will come mounted in NighForce rings - I'm just gonna pull it off the rifle and send it with box and accessories. PM if you are serious and we will talk about payment type.
$2750.00
They should have stopped cartridge development after the '06 was introduced...
I've had Tikka, Winchester FW, HVA and Remington. All great rifles.
For a pure classic, I'd go with the Winchester M70 (the Alaskan would be nice).
Tikka is a great beater 'do the job' rifle.
My Remington is a...
No need to debate anything, my friend.
That Partition is not a LR bullet, I agree. There are, however, alternatives like I was illustrating. Long-range is different to every person, based on skillset and equipment.
Taking the thread post at its face value, I am making the case for keeping the...
I really have no answer - my best guess is that that is a lot of force (energy) for a whitetail-sized creature.
I had a Ruger No 1 375 H&H once upon a time, a beautiful gun with great nostalgia. Shot a coyote while deer hunting - total carnage on a scale I have never seen.
What is long-range?
A 140 Berger at 2800fps will put you at 700yards before it drops below 1800fps - is that long enough?
The 130 Classic Hunter at 2950 will get you to 800 before dropping out.
More gun will not make up for lack of proficiency. Can you now reliably hit at 700 yards?
Do you have a top-shelf scope on the Tikka?
Have you gotten everything out of it you can - group size, shooting long-range, field position shooting, etc...
