I'm going to pile on to this one....I had a decent number in line and watched the "real time" number of people in line in front of me decrease dramatically, then shoot right back up hundreds and hundreds of people. It ping ponged back and forth the whole time I waited and watched.
I watched...
The posts on this thread have been very illuminating and helpful for me. I would never have guessed the results of what you all have said, or found the other scope threads you've directed me to.
I just ordered the Nightforce SHV in 3-10x 42mm. Merry Christmas to me.
There are so many guys...
I've been hunting deer and elk in Colorado my whole life and have eaten a ridiculous amount of game meat. It was first found here in wild deer in 1981.
There is little to no way I haven't consumed critters with the disease. We were not careful with how we broke down animals or cleaning knives...
First, I'm a bowhunter through and through. Haven't hunted with a gun (except for waterfowl and upland birds) for 13 years.
My father-in-law is 66 years old and wants to go on a rifle elk hunt next year. I'd like to join him.
I have a Weatherby Mark V in 7mm rem mag. The scope on it is...
I hear you.
Unfortunately, I'm already familiar with the unequal concept of equity.....although, trying to keep up with our rapidly devolving society is challenging.
I don't like politics.
I don't like political posts.
My $0.02 says....I don't condone any policy based purely on race, skin color, religion or sex. That's what equality actually means.
IF there is a bill proposing support for underserved communities based on something like post natural...
It's the only fixed blade I use for deer and elk since they came out 6-7 years ago. The vented version flies incredibly well. They are sharp as hell and tough as nails. I get passthroughs 100% of the time unless it's a frontal.
If you think more Western hunting is in your future, I'd recommend putting in for points in a few states now so you can draw entry level tags in the next few years.

There are lots of correct answers based on the materials used, environmental conditions, performed maintenance and amount of use.
But....to generalize, I replace string sets when:
You lose poundage. >1-2 pounds after initial settling.
Your ATA measurement opens up 1/4" or more after initial...
Getting charged then gnawed on by a griz and wondering if you're going to live beyond the next 30 seconds and taking a 730yd shot on a buck you're aiming at through a high powered scope are two completely different things.
I bet 99.9% of people wouldn't notice a collar on a g-bear as it was...
First, as some have said, the figures in the data tables posted are inaccurate....I only use data pulled directly from state wildlife agencies.
Second, change is coming.
There is 100% chance NR OTC tags are changing (likely going away) in 2025. Very likely there will be changes to resident OTC...

Holy buckets, man.
The cop-out comments in this thread are astounding. No wonder success rates are so low.
If 9,500 is too high for you, go to the grocery store. They probably have one of those little Rascal motorized buggies you can ride on so you don't get too tired pushing the cart.
