Ive shot 40lb limbs on a 62in bow for the past 5yrs. Have killed many good mature whitetails. This past season was my best arrow build with a complete passthrough on all 3 kills. 200gr broadhead. 100gr insert. 25gr collar. 350 VAP SS shafts full length.
I plan to shoot two blade single bevels out of my recurve this fall for moose. It seems to me that if you make a good shot, they arent going very far and shouldnt be difficult to find once they fall.
Im 6’4”. Been shooting ILF bow for 5yrs or so now. 40# at 28in. I have a 30in draw. By far my favorite bow. 19in riser. Medium limbs for a 62in. bow. I love it. Hunts great at 62in shooting out of a tree stand. Have killed quite a few deer with it. And big bodied bucks at that.
I guess Im more into the new age type bows. About 5yrs ago friend sent me an ILF recurve at 40# for whitetails and I havent put it down since. This year I will hunt moose in Alaska with 50# limbs. 650ish grain arrow. 2 blade single bevel broadhead that I sharpen myself for maximum sharpness...
The wait is dreadful if its your first time. I can only speak to first times cause my first moosw hunt happens this fall and Im going crazy waiting for it to get here. My wife is not a fan of me moose hunting as she has told me.
