That’s pretty much what I have been doing.
The brass is good and the primers are not crimped.
62 eldvt is a neat bullet to shoot for prairie dogs once those are shot up.
If you load your own it’s pretty cheap to make ammo with Starline brass.
You should try an RRS ascend.
I’d bet you would even like the stability for glassing as well.
While not a big shooting tripod, it blows slik out of the water, and is plenty for most hunting rifle weights and seated/kneeling shots.
Yours ship yet? I’m going to get in line for an S RR after my K RR ships.
I think it will be a big deal for larger calibers. Might make something bigger justifiable
Iv gotten to play with it all. And as noted, my favorite is still a bag on a tripod. I just swap bags as necessary. The lighter fills are not as stable, it’s a trade off. I can use that same bag prone, off a log or rock or whenever as well.
Tripod rear is awesome, but you’re not tracking...
Where in central WI? What is your goal for reloading? Ie precision rifle, hand gun, ect
I may be able to help, but until mid winter my reloading room is going to be broken down while I have foundation work done.
Anymore online is about the best you will get for prices unless you get lucky at...
In one hand tripod setup with 3.5 feet of leg out, small tac table and a bag wedged in the legs folded up, in the other your rifle. Will cover anything. Even better if your hunting buddy can carry the deployed tripod on the stalk.
I carried around my 9lb sand schmedium on my pronghorn hunt...
Waters rifleman makes mags for the tikka at dasher/br length. I plan to also try and make factory mags work as well but the WR mag is already in hand for a standby.
Alternatively there are aics mags, along with Hawkins hunter mags with their spacer for dasher/br.
I see no reason I can’t...
Only reason to go srp is if that’s all you got. Or your only shooting in warmer temps.
Alpha is more consistent than Peterson ime. Peterson isn’t bad either though. Alpha case heads are hard as shit and can take some firing before pushing pressure. The web area just dosnt grow like lapua...
I can get along with a 1.5-1.8moa rifle for training but beyond that it starts getting frustrating.
It also depends what your training. And what size target you want to hit.
Unsupported practice with cheaper ammo seems useful but 3moa is approaching a little ridiculous for a bolt rifle setup.
I’m not sure a br will get there in 18”.
My plan is a 20” dasher. For barrel life and a bullet starting at 2750 hopefully. 103eldx and 80eldvt should do it well.
Someone please make a tikka bottom metal and sell it for an extra 20 bucks with plus and minus mag latches. The tikka mag system isn’t rocket science.
Why nobody has done this is beyond me.
