I used the same Deuter Fox 40 for my son. His waist is too thin for buckling, so I took off the buckles amd directly connected the straps to the belt. Worked great.
My painted one was much grippier than the CF one. Action for was fairly loose, so I bedded it. Also cut it for an AICS DBM. Pretty good stock all around.
