Prirmus Micron Lantern on massdrop 36$

I picked one up, but just got it the other day and have not used it in the field yet. They probably don't put out any more heat than a stove, but put out a lot more light and will burn much longer than just running a stove. I think it will work well enough to add a little bit of warmth to a...

Bringing home meat on a plane

Best way to maximize your meat haul for air travel is freeze it before hand and then pack it in a rubbermaid container for the flight home. You will pay oversize/overweight fees, and depending on the airline max weight is between 75 and 100lbs. I've flown this way with a bear and a goat before...

    Most versatile older frame

As far as accessories and bag options, no one makes more than Kifaru. Mystery Ranch is also a good option, and since they recently came out with a new frame design the older NICE frames can be had for a pretty good deal.

Its just so damn big. I ran a DT2 last year and liked it, but never need anywhere near 7200cu.

    Jimmy Tarps Raghorn Shelter

I have a few things from Jimmy and the value can't be beat. As far as designs go, you can only do so many things with a tent/shelter. Every company now makes a tipi, a tarp, and variations on those designs and materials. Competition is a good thing.

    Fishing Drone

I don't know... I'm certainly against drones for use in hunting for a combination of fair chase and animal harassment reasons. In hunting, locating or knowing where the animals are going to/from at any given moment is a huge advantage. Drones can be used in places and in scenarios where...

    Threads you love to hate...

Stayed away from this one for awhile, since I'm trying to be less cynical these days and helping others...even if the question has been answered 100 times before...is helping out other hunters. However, get really tired of all the WTB adds in the classifieds. It seems like every other thread...

    TV personalities poaching WY Elk.

I love Steve and the Meateater show and podcast. Its really the only hunting TV/media I have absorbed in probably the last year and a half. I can appreciate the time and effort that get put into the other shows, but watching other people hunt just makes me stir crazy wishing I could be out...

    TV personalities poaching WY Elk.

Hate to see that. It sure is amazing what people can pick out of a video. It just goes to show that one man's middle of nowhere is someone else's backyard. Good on the viewer who identified the location. I hope they get rewarded with a tag or some points.

    No Wader Stream Crossings

I gear down and throw my boots over my shoulders and roll up my pants. If its more than knee deep, I'd take off the pants also and cross in my boxers. Of-course, I've only had to do this in September and may rethink that strategy if was late November. I've worn a heavy pair of wool socks to...

How much Vacation time do you get?

I manage an Intermodal rail yard. With 12 years in I have 4 weeks paid vacation. Will go up to 5 weeks if I make it to 20 years. Also, whenever one of the other two managers goes on vacation I also work a 10 on 4 off schedule, which is kind if like a mini vacation.

    Not so hot....

I can't recall anything I was totally burned on, although I have purchased many items over the last few years that just weren't for me. Clothes, shelters, sleeping bags, packs, and other random ultralight gear. Any more, when I purchase something new I often look at it as a rental opportunity...

    Suluk Buck Saw

I know there have been a couple inquiries regarding pack saws. This one looks interesting. I joined the drop, cause I'd like a closer look. 12" buck saw under 4.5 ounces. In reality its will probably only work well for stuff up to 6", but that is the perfect size for keeping my stove and...

    Joe Rogan and Pot

This made me laugh. So, you are saying if you strip away everything someone has worked hard to accomplish, they are just an average Joe? Isn't that the truth with anyone? That's like saying if you take away the talent, physical ability, superbowl rings, MVP trophies, and a supermodel wife Tom...
