Going to jump in here. Tons of glassing experience here with binos and scopes. Based on what your are describing as your personal hunting experiences, and since you recognize a spotting scope is not worth the money no more often than you would use it. There is one and only one answer to...
I only saw one previous post on this issue, so I will give it another go. May get more responses.
I am going to elk hunt in NM the first season September 1-14. Been there chasing those critters many times. It gets hot. Here is what has changed. I am not diabetic and the Darn Tough...
I agree that not enough people either take the time to tune or actually know how to tune. With a fixed blade, one needs to tune and shoot every arrow he is taking into the field before going into the field. Then replace the blades or sharpen if the blades are not removable. There is no...
Thanks for all your responses. Live and learn. I have built hundreds of dozens of FMJ and never had a problem. But admittedly, the night I built those I was in a big hurry and watching the Olympics. My bad.
Not sure what you mean by “bad”, but if you mean how tight are they are tight. I used an 8 inch drill bit to add more weight and neither insert has budged LOL>
Understood, but when I cut them I dont leave more than 1/2 inch of overlap beyond the launcher at full draw. Flipping the arrow around on the one that is too deep would work generally.
For deer, my number one vote as well as votes 2-10 is for the Slick Trick Assailant. Have taken a truck load of deer with them, and never lost any. And I have had a couple less than ideal shots. I am human after all lol.
Built a dozed arrows yesterday. Somehow I got one insert too deep and one too shallow with the Easton provided tool. I have removed inserts by putting a drill bit inside the shaft and doing the flip the shaft trick to allow the bit to strike the insert. Well I have tried and tried and tried...
Yes, some form of a ball head. For example, Gun Werks is making a new one. I had it in Alaska in May. Good idea but all the “kinks” not worked out yet. Will not hold binos or scope tight. Had to bush craft a fix from a willow twig. There was another in camp with a ball head, but the...
If you have tried both of these packs, which would you use for a day pack hunting early season elk? I have a EXO Mountain K3 1800 with a top that I really like, but these two Kuiu’s are about 2 pounds lighter. Yes, I am counting ounces, and no I do not need the Kuiu to haul meat...
Okay if Justin did it, you have to as well. That is another GREAT room. I am at the age that I always think of where I started. So thinking about those starting out. Give them a short summary of what you got there and what you would change if anything.
Has anyone used one of the Ghost blinds (suppose to be like a mirror) or some other type of blind to keep in front of them when stalking pronghorn with a bow? Going to try my first hunt with a bow in a few weeks. I suppose a decoy might work as well. What has worked for you?
Thanks Justin! It gives some of us the opportunity to dream about one or two items, and gives the beginners the chance to make a long Christmas list. Thanks again.
Why doesn’t someone identify the various tools or toys on the far and near bench. While this is like looking at the Mona Lisa to some who appreciate art, others need to know why we are dreaming of a bench like this.
