Yeah, that’s called spot and stalk for mule deer and is one of the more common ways especially early season. Wait for them to bed and the thermals to switch then go sneak in.
Way more people in Colorado and other western states. The concern has been harassment of wildlife on critical winter range.
Especially during bad winters it could hurt the herds. people used to chase deer and elk around trying to get the sheds first.
