    Determining Road Access

This is really the best way, and the way FS does things around here the only way to know if a road is open or not. Many roads here that were closed in the last 5? years that have no signs or gates, and FS says it is on you to have the map to know the laws. They Will ticket you even if there...

    Idaho Spring Bear

Where we hunt, between 6-6500 ft the big boars are out second week in may pretty consistently. Hasn't seemed to matter if there was 5 ft of snow, or 10 ft. They will stay put if they know of a good food source from past years even if they wait a little. We have done baits in this area, and then...

    Idaho Spring Bear

The snow can be as much fun as hunting bears for me, and honestly a big part of it for me, I hope it keeps putting it down......

    243 for Bear????

The thing is, if you keep any bullet clear of the shoulder meat loss will be minimal. Any bullet even ttsx can be ugly if shot through the shoulder. The thing I have learned over time is that I try really hard to avoid the shoulder, and that soft bullets through the vitals clear of the shoulder...

    243 for Bear????

The only soft bullet that I have used up close was 178eldx loaded fast in a 3006 at less that 30 yards. Bear was quarted to me nearly straight on. Shot placement was just in front of left shoulder making shot angle from there through last rib on right side. Bear died instantly no noise, just...

    243 for Bear????

Another thing I have learned with bears, is that you probably wont have a blood trail without a fist sized exit.

    243 for Bear????

The bears we have killed with 243 were using 100grn interlocks and 100grn gamekings. The gamekings were slightly more destructive, and still had exits. 50-60 yards. Those bears died basically just as fast as the bears shot with 130 interlocks in the 270, or 165 interlock in the 3006. The...

    Pickup muffler

I would just get another oem one if available, or aftermarket stock replacement. Most all the aftermarket performace type stuff will be much louder, and or cause droning at certain load/speed.

    Who’s reached a half a mill?

Saw a late 90s pontiac sunbird here recently that had 520k on it. If that pos could last that long, it is just further proof that people get tired of vehicles before the vehicles are tired.

    Electric Wood Splitter??

The thing with a splitter is that it has to be part of a process. I split rounds off the back of the truck and straight into storage or back of another truck or trailer for sale. I have used one about 4 years now, just never came up with a good process for splitting by hand. As far as just...

    Electric Wood Splitter??

I dont think it would be difficult to get an electric motor in place of the gasser, but I am not familiar with sizing and speeds of large electric motors. It would be nice to have it only run the electric motor when the hydraulic pump needs run, and not sitting there running like an exhaust...

    Electric Wood Splitter??

Not finding anything over 10 ton, anybody seen bigger ones? Would sure be nice to not have the noise and exhaust on cold still days. Split over 25 cord this year.

Need a new truck- no clue what direction

As long as it is a drivetrain that has been around for awhile, there should be lockers available for it. Or add a factory locker to something that came without it. I would hold out for one already done though......the factory installed stuff is typically far more dependable than aftermarket...

    Electric Wood Splitter??

The electric ones I have used were a joke. They did split small easy to split stuff without issue, but anything more difficult had to be broken up by hand first. Always thought it would be cool to have one indoors, if I had the room, for getting pieces to fit just right for a full stove...
