    I would suggest buying the hornady comparator kit, it’s fairly inexpensive. In the meantime, I would just make slight adjustments to your die until the brass chambers normally. Small changes, don’t want to over bump the brass.

    108 eldm 48.2 h4831sc cbto 2.285 Fed210m jumping .020 Rechamber factory, yes smith had to set back some. I think it cost me $350, IMO yes worth it. I’ve got almost 200 rounds on that barrel and virtually no signs it’s even been shot. If it’s not set back you run into excessive headspace issues.

    I bought the same gun and rechambered to 243 AI. 3154 with 108 eldm and h4831sc. Don’t think you’ll have too much trouble getting to 3k.

    With H1000 you're likely going to send a bunch of unburned powder down the pipe with the 243 AI. I was surprised how inefficient it was in mine with a 22" barrel. H4831SC worked much better for me.

    Yes they are, I pierced 400’s with an N540 load, 450’s were fine.

    I shot a buck last year with a 156 at 400 yds, top half of heart was gone and a 2" tunnel out the other side. That buck still managed to run 50 yards dead on his feet.

    Why not just spin a barrel on a savage? For less than $500 you can get a great barrel and recoil lug from northland shooters supply, a new bolt face is sub $40 and you already have familiarity with the action.
