    Honestly the travel headaches and expense of trailering a boat from Montana to Alaska, ferry or no ferry…you will be way ahead of game renting a boat for the duration of you hunt. I don’t recall what our boat rental was but it was negligible.

    I do both, I probably grind about 3/4 of the shanks and cross cut the rest for osso buca , if I kept all the shanks I would be eating osso buca every week…

    Last year killed one with a 2.0 SevR and the other with an IW wide. They both went about the same distance. I generally prefer a mechanical for bear however for my second bear I grabbed the fixed blade from the quiver because shot was frontal.
