That's pretty useful, because you can add about 2oz for the reprofiling, which is mostly taking out material near the chamber. If what they told me over the phone is accurate, it was only about $250 for both fluting and reprofile, which surprised me.
They can go deeper with the smaller calibers, but isn't yours a .308? Kampfeld advised me not flute my 6.5cm, so I didn't. But, now that it's my 300 yard and in gun, I'm not worried about a little loss of accuracy. I probably won't carry my suppressor on the spring trips, so without that...
Good luck on the hunt! I don't think I posted the first blood with the 22cm barrel in this thread, so I might as well. A little (500ish pound) 5 point for the freezer this year. This one has a good story, because I'm pretty sure we got on this bull 3-4 years ago. It's hard to tell in the...
Thanks for the kind words, it's still a heavy weight compared to the big bore originals! I like the SC designation! Did I mention this one is the 22cm or 22SC? I swap the stock between it and the 6.5cm for now. Hardly worth going the mpi stock route now with a big maybe save about 1.6oz for...
Thanks, I could shave maybe one more half ounce with a ton of tiny holes, but I think I'll leave it alone for now. I've been talking with LRI gunsmithing and they can shave another 2 oz or so by taking off material closer to the chamber, but I think I'm done here. I might send off my unfluted...
Finished for now. This flip flop pad is right about 0.3 oz, but I screwed up, because it isn't very soft like it should be. Going to have to do it again most likely. At least it was pretty easy to make it nice with a palm sander. Took me like 3 minutes to make the edges flush. I got stupid...
Added a lot more holes to the stock, and put some foam in it, glued a flip flop pad on there with the water activated gorilla glue, ended up at 13.6oz and still plenty rigid. I can't feel any flex pushing on it inline with the recoil. I think i forgot the magazine in my previous post where it...
Wow, 3-400 and no pressure from a carbon ring? I get maybe 50-70, but I'm running right up next to max pressure so I wonder if that's the main reason I have to clean so often?
This barrel has less than 200 rounds through it, and I was able to put 3 rounds in 3/8" groups with cold bore shots. It's a gem, and the only reason I'm selling it is because I changed cartridges.
The factory clear corrosion resistant finish that Kimber uses is easily stained, so it has some...
Wanting to use a 'Lee FCD crimp die' to crimp some hammer bullets, but they don't make one in 22creed. I should be able to use a 22-250 crimp die right?
I usually end up finding a mono of the same weight and using that beginning charge for the ladder. This time I might have to find a lead bullet starting point.
*found a buddy that's going to trade me for some of the powder on hammers website
Looking for some recommendations for running the 80 grain hammer HH bullets in 6.5cm. This is my close range rifle, out to 300 yards, so I'm not worried about getting the full 3600ish fps potential out of this bullet, and hoping to use one of the following 4 powders I have on hand. Please let...
I'd guess that there's a decent chance that there's some machining often times to dial in the headspace, but you'd have to ask a Smith. I bet someone on here knows and will chime in.
Looks like justice was served. Really unlikely this guy is going to survive 15 years in federal prison, (unless he paroles early) especially with a child related charge. So, basically worse than a death sentence...
And, who's to say the proceeds aren't feeding his wife and kids, or elderly...
Just had to add my experiences with monos on the last 16 animals I've shot with them.
-7 elk, most DRT, one 300, 2 a little over 400 yards, factory .308 barnes ttsx 150's. One hyped up big bull made it about 100 yards, 1 bad hit still recovered same day, all the others were less than half of...
