I just purchased the V3X as my first bow I have ever owned. I shot a Hoyt Ventum Pro, Bowtech SR350, and a PSE Exo something or rather. I was expecting the Bowtech to walk away with my money, but none of the other 4 shot or drew as smooth as the V3X. The Hoyt was an extremely close second...
I concur with many on here regarding the tent. For a solo excursion I run a Z-Packs Altaplex, if I am going to be running out of a base camp the Seek Outside Cimarron is my all in one. Both tents are DCF so they are amazingly light. The SO could easily be my backpacking tent, but the Z-Packs...
It has got to be tough to break into the sleeping bag industry even for an established company. Ill stick with my WM and FF, in a few years we will see if these bags are still around.
I have the altaplex for solo backpacking. Same material as the duplex and it has held up well. I am not rough on gear however. Agree with Sneaky to check out some of the backpacking sites and youtube channels such as Darwin on the Trail and Homemade Wanderlust. DCF is supposed to be great...
Personally, I would throw it in the trash and let it dry out in the landfill. Much rather carry a water bottle that I can monitor water consumption and wash with soap and water.
I would say Katabatic and El Coyote are the two I read the most positive comments about. Katabatic is expensive but I read they are pretty accurate with their ratings, similar to Western Mountaineering. El Coyote I read rave reviews on the customer service. I don't think you would go wrong...
If it fits you, Exo is my vote. I have the Exo K3 6400 and can cinch it down well enough to be a day pack. I have an Eberlestock as well which I can use, but the 6400 is a much nicer pack. You won't go wrong with Exo.
I run an Exped and love it. I think it is 3" maybe 3.5", R Value over 5, packs down to roughly the size of a Nalgene, and is quiet to sleep on. I sleep on my side often, but I have never felt my hip touching the ground. I am 5-10, 180lbs.
How do the El Coyote compare with say Enlightened Equipment, Feathered Friends, or Katabatic? Katabatic I understand to be to quilts what Western Mountaineering is to sleeping bags.
Chair zero is what I have, but I also have the thermarest z-seat. It looks like a cut up therma rest z pad and makes a great little seating pad for that rock. Chair zero was around 100.00 on sale and the z-seat was 15.
I have a SO Cimarron in DCF with the stove jack. Works great and is super light, not cheap. You can use trekking poles for the center pole or just get the carbon fiber pole which I really like. Cimarron has a couple of nest options and I purchased a LBO nest which is smaller since I use it as...
Like many on here I can't say enough about WM. I have the Versalite with 3oz of overstuff. Rests on an Exped pad I think that has a 5.8 R value. I throw a silk liner in it and have yet to ever be cold. Outdoor vitals has liner's for nothing, and the WM bag and Exped are expensive but I dont...
I looked at Seek, Kifaru, and Exo when I was making my decision. My height is the same as yours but I am 180 and ended up going with the Exo. First I liked the packability of the Exo (mine is the 6400 but I can pack it down to almost daypack size), I love the flexibility of the frame, and I...
I looked at them before I bought my Seek Outside and Z-Packs. Stratospire II Li was my fav, but I also like the double rainbow. In the end the stratospire didn't pack down as well as the SO or Z-Packs due to the corner supports and since they are made in china I opted for a different route...
Z-Packs Altaplex is my 1P option. It is longer with a very high peak and has a good sized vestibule for gear. Uses a trekking pole or hiking stick to pitch, EXTREMELY light just over 1lb.
I love my Luci lantern. Collapses down to about 1" tall and weighs nothing, solar powered so it charges during the day and has 3 settings. Lights my SO Cimarron very well, not sure how well it would work for a bigger wall type tent. You may need to buy a few of them to fully light something...
