The 6CM is a great all around western hunting rifle.(sounds funny when I say that) but it’s true. I’m planing on doing a bunch of scouting next year with my mules and want a light weight 6CM for that.
But make no mistake the 6UM is a different beast. It’s just not for plinking.
6UM from today!
I shot or witnessed three animals shot with 110 Atips and three shot with 230 Atips. It's either a dramatic wound channel or a field tip wound channel. Very heckle and jeckel.
I just use cheap 6mm bullets to FF. I’ve used 4831, 7828 and h1000. All around 55-58 grains
I have used 300 SAUM imp, 7 SAUM and the FA universal seating die.
From Kurt,
My daughter shot this buck with the 6 UM at 540, one shot, entered right behind right shoulder, no exit or damage on offside, first 115 I have had not exit, hit a rib on the way in. Took out most of the lungs, tore the diaphragm in half and even damage the liver. Pretty unbelievable...
The weather change definitely fired up the elk. I heard what I thought was a person making every Primos noise in the book. To my surprise a cow and a good bull popped out of the brush moving way too fast for a shot.
Tanya has standards.. I am trying to lower them:)
The PH didn't want a second shot if the first was fatal. He claimed that after the second shot, they ran until they feel safe.
Yes, but the hide and skull takes around eighteen months to get to the States.
