I was thinking the same thing. If I was with 2 other guys and we all dropped an elk at the same time, it would be a, “great, now what?” kind of situation. I’m not sure we could get them all out in the same day.
My point is you’re overdramatizing the effect of recoil over the average number of shots someone takes to zero a hunting rifle and take game. A 1/2 inch group vs a 1 inch group is a 100% increase in group size…and would have NO appreciable impact on the effectiveness of the shot.
Modern stock design, recoil pads, and we aren’t sustaining fire on a deer. It’s a couple shots, tops. We aren’t talking shooting full auto with a BAR or an M-14.
The recoil of a 7mm-08 is above the natural comfortable limit for the average adult male? Maybe if you rest it on the tip of your nose or your balls.
In all seriousness, some people aren’t cut out to do certain things and it’s no big deal. But we shouldn’t make monsters from moles. If the...
T3/T3x is a good rifle. Just remember, the 6.5 CM T3x has a longer barrel than the other T3x rifles in standard calibers. The 243 and 7mm-08 have 22, 6.5 has 24.
I’m actually quite fond of the 300 Weatherby and 150gr TTSX. Start them at 3400fps and zero at 300 yards. You can hold on hair on a deer out to 450 yards. Makes for very little guess work.
I have a 270 that doesn’t get stretched more than 300 yards. My “load development” was figuring out what brand of primer I had the most of, loading a charge of H4831 1gr off max in new Winchester brass, seating 140gr Interlocks to the cannelure x50, and zeroing the rifle. I have 34 left with 3...
I use basically the same load out of my TC Pro Hunter FX. I live in a state with open sights rules, so shot distances would likely be under 150 yards. Works perfect.
