    Switching from the Xtherm

As said above you still need a pad with a cot, a cot has no R value. I sometimes run a thermarest ultralite cot and I have both Neo Airs... A normal XLite and the Xtherm. If I can't sleep I notice I do not hunt nearly as well, so my setup adapts depending on the outing. I sleep both on side...

    Sirui vs Slik

Hey bud, what am I missing here. Slik lists the 634 as 63" fully extended. I'm looking for 72" to sure I can stand without crouching. What height are you looking for?

    Sirui vs Slik

Haha! I think Sirui has some, but it's in their expensive lines. I have an ultra light CF Vantage I bought a few yrs ago that works great for sitting and when I need to cut weight, but I'd love something I could stand with and didn't weigh 10 lbs like my old Manfrotto, haha. I do use an...

    Stone Glacier Solo or 5900?

I love my SG. I have the 6900 and IMO the larger SG's compress so well it's hard to argue against sizing up.

Jason Hairston of KUIU passed away today

Can't say much that hasn't already been said. Regardless of what you think about him, its a loss for the hunting community. RIP.

Utah senator Mike Lee - attacking Public Lands

Interesting timing on this thread. I was just reading about Don Peay and didn't know how much power he now wields. I do think what the senator from Utah brings up is an issue for hunters and people who wildlife and shouldn't be brushed aside.

    Flying with your bow??

I dont lock my stuff. I did the first time I flew with my bow, but since then i came to the realization if TSA wants to F with your stuff, they will. Also, I agree about the packing. Make your case easy to pack back up so if the TSA opens it, they can close it back up, lol. I wouldnt be...

    Flying with your bow??

I have that case. Man up and pay the charge. Its not over 50 lbs, but its oversized so you will get hit with the fee if they feel like measuring. Just man up and deal with it. Thats a pretty expensive hunt, plus you will be flying with a cooler back. Whats another 75 bucks each way...

    Cabelas Big Horn 3

Glad you heard good things. Its weird, one link for the tent on cabelas site is dead, the other works. https://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=2518537&type=product&WT.z_btnclk=YMAL-2518537&WT.z_pg_ref=prd2518537

    Pack help

Yeah, I suggest you size up. SG packs compress better than any other pack I've used. My 6900 feels like 3000ci in bivy mode. I also think you should be much more concerned with the frame fitting well than the weight. The X curve frame is pretty great and seems to fit more people.

    MR inventory issues

Funny, I went to their website the other day because I was considering a travel/edc pack that could double up for glassing/camera on day long scouting. They have so many packs out now I figured there could be no way that they still have delivery issues. Guess I was wrong! This is totally off...

    Netflix original deer hunting movie

Im leaning towards that assumption as well after seeing the trailer. But I also have hope they tie it together as a father/son bonding movie that doesn't lambast the fact they hunt, and rather appreciates the activity for what it is.

    Cabelas Big Horn 3

Sweet, thank you. Regarding the condensation and heat loss: Do you think running the stove and holding more of that heat in longer (via a tarp as you mentioned) will dry the place out more?

Justice Kennedy retiring! Gun rights will be secured for generations.

Bullshit. People do. And people control corporations, just like they control governments. Honest question: Are you aware of the results of "unfettered capitalism" on anyone but the elite before Teddy R started government regulation of industry? Are you pro-oligarchy? Thats the result of...
