Guess it comes down to preference. I dont find that hard either. I routinely zero at 100yds on 5-6 power. Like I said where this scope will be used im not worried about taking 50 yd shots, deer dont sneak up on you in this terrain. Even if one did, Im willing to risk that small probability...
Have a whiskey and for its price point I like them. However I had one before they had a zero stop and lost a deer that way. Moved up to a tango and wasn’t thrilled with it. So while I’d go back to a whiskey for a mid grade scope, looking for higher end and don’t think sig fits that bill
Thanks. Is there a spec/metric or something to look for to give you that sweet spot. Really Id hate to buy a 2.5-15 and its swee spot be 5-6 power. To me for what I do something in the 9-15 range would be better.
Wasnt really pointing my comment on you or anybody else. Admittedly ive always found the sweet spot for high magnification on high power scopes to be in the 12-15 range. However have used the higher to look out farther.
Something I have read in a few spots, hard to tell if its true like...
I dont know what PRS is . My normal hunt is hardwoods and clearings and I get the overpower stuff. However like I said above being able to see, is great out west. And this isnt a knock on anybody, but think some of the anxiety over high power is guys used to shooting 3x9 type stuff forever...
Thanks for the input Im actually debating the Trijicon Tenmile 4.5-30x56. Kind of has the best of both worlds as it drops down to 4.5 and goes up to 30 vs a 5-25 or 6-24.
We western hunt rolling prairie and draws, and my current scope is a 6-24 and actually like the 6 power up front as it...
Looking for my first high end scope. Want to keep it to these 4 brands, been down a ton of rabbit holes already but have it narrowed down. I would consider myself a mid range shooter in the 300-500 range, with longest take on a deer being 700. So 7-800 yards is important. This is an out west...
Maven R series vs leupold VX5.
Is a certain R series better. First or second focal plane.
Main use would be 3-500yards out to maybe 7-800.
I can get the for 300 cheaper then the vx5
Looking at the Rs.3 and rs.5 sfp.
Leuopold household name, maven I’ve never heard of or seen one.
Throw in...
Yeah I’ve had mine for 10 years. It’s gone in waves it seems. Can’t find it, can find it. However the kind I shoot I can’t find in over 2 years and I can never find it locally and can’t buy online. Love the gun, but over the anxiety of trying to find ammo
Picked up a mountain pro 300wm 26in barrel for 1500 sale today. Happy with the purchase.
Can’t have cans here and can’t order ammo online here. So with that said went to the two places in town to get ammo. Had half a dozen choices in the 300, no 6.5prc and one 7prc. So made the right choice.
Thanks for something of help vs the others. Can’t ship ammo to my state. While I have seen 7prc, my concern is 5-10 years it going the way of the dodo, like I’m said I’ve bought the latest rage before and it didn’t survive.
I see the sportier version with the short barrels. Which I like...
Already decided what I want and comfortable with. Understand it’s not only about energy it’s about a lot of things. However big faster harder hitting rounds give you more leeway and will kill better every time all the time
Disagree energy does matter. Either way the mag gets there 25 percent faster and at almost twice the speed with something that weighs 2.5times more.
Doesn’t matter. Im not getting it not going back and forth. Rifle wouldn’t be allowed in a lot of states I’m interested in or could go to.
