I bought a Mystery Ranch cover of Camofire and it works fine.
I was in your camp till I went on a hunt and it raining everyday for a week. I typically don't use while moving, but if I stop to glass or have to store the pack outside the tent it's nice to have a cover to keep it from getting...
Where I hunt, in the spring the bears are typically cruising fast. They'll cover an incredible amount of ground quickly.
There's a lot of land in Idaho, so I haven't had trouble competing with bait sites or hounds. If someone is running hounds hard, you can always move. You can also look...
I skipped this year due to other hunt conflicts, but I wasn't impressed last year. It wasn't nearly as crowded as you describe, but I saw more dudes than deer and the stupidity was there. Was setting up to take a shot on the only legal buck I saw and someone started cranking rounds off at it...
I don't get passionate about much, but I am a huge fan of the Tenmile. Is the reticle my absolute favorite? No, but it has never got in the way. I went through too many scopes looking for one with acceptable brightness, clarity, and most importantly, holds zero. I've posted about it in the...
I don't really get the Dark Energy thing. Good on them for marketing to hunters, but I don't really see what problems it solves. It's hard to believe it's not just a mass produced bank in a custom enclosure.
I bought a Anker 10,000 5 years ago and I'll be damned if it still doesn't hold a...
I've had a pair of Crispis that I loved, and a pair that was trash. I wouldn't get too hung up on brand; everyone's foot is different. I'd try as many different pairs of boots as you can instead of trying to stick with a particular brand.
Not unless you are a superhuman or heavily supplemented. I've varied and gone from running races to heavy powerlifting, and at each extreme the other suffers. Someone once told me that he wanted to run faster than the lifters and lift more than the runners, and I thought that was pretty damn...
Dude, I used to think Macs were for hipsters and artsy people but I'm so sick of the popups and never ending update cycle that I am seriously considering a Mac for my next laptop.
I can sympathize. I have some weird feet that are in between normal and wide, one foot is slightly bigger than the other, and I have one big toe that likes to rub on the side of most toe boxes. To say finding a boot that fits is an understatement. I have been through a metric boatload of...
To each their own, but I haven't found "functional" success by breaking up into body building type splits. Concur with those above, if endurance is your limiting factor, I'd do more sport specific or at least hit the stair master a couple times a week.
When it comes to your workouts, I'd...
Yeah I was debating upgrading the 554 to the STC but I think I'd be underwhelmed. The 554 certainly fills a niche roll for me, so I suppose I'll keep it until they come out with a featherweight 65mm.
For sure. I could easily see how this guy wound up in this situation too. I’ve tracked a wounded bear in cover in low light and certainly had my pistol in hand rather than a rifle. For a close counters, fast moving situation I’d rather have the pistol than a scoped bolt action rifle.
You’re not wrong, but even for an accomplished shooter, things change considerably when you have adrenaline pumping and a bear is coming at you at 30MPH.
Just here to say my K4 has been hands down amazing. This will be my second full year using it, and I haven't found anything I don't like about it. I have both the 5000 and 7200 bags, and have put them through their paces a few times.
Between me and my hunting partners, I've used the K4 to...
