We're going the outfitted route so not going to have camping gear. After looking west a bit though I see the town of Grant, which is kind of on the way. That a decent town?
Thanks for the input so far. Knew that leaving the gear in the truck was a no no, should've known better than to hope other parts of the country were better than where I'm living... :(
Am heading out to NM for a elk hunt later this fall and was going to book a hotel in Albuquerque the night before we head to our hunting camp. I'd like to be somewhere on the west side of town to be able to just get up and keep rolling if possible.
1. Safest part of town to book a room?
2...
Friend knows a guy from one of the "deer seed" companies and gets it in bulk. It's his deal so I just show up with some basic planting knowledge and the equipment (in exchange for some sweet hunting rights :)). Not sure what they worked out.
Same thing you are, usually some kind of bulb with green tops. Did try a couple of round up ready alfalfa plots this fall, hoping they come up nice in the spring.
Not sure your situation but Kubota usually has 0% on new stuff if that floats your boat. I run a 4 year old Kubota L4701 HST with a loader. Did 30 acres (28 plots) this year. Cut 4 weeks ago. Sprayed 3 weeks ago. And planted 2 weeks ago with an RTP 5' no till drill (I rented the drill from a...
Did this last year, different area. Camped by water at about 5200', wandered to as high as 7800'. had some rain, some snow, cold enough to freeze at night, warm enough to have to fight off afternoon naps in the sun. Wore a good base layer the whole time, and carried around (or wore) softer...
Thanks for the help. Once I get potential hunt areas nailed down will use some of these resources to dig. Guess worse case scenario I'll have to throw the 4 wheeler in the bed of my truck and use that where necessary/legal.
Have an outfitted hunt in NM this year but am already thinking about 2022, Tried google and haven't been able to find anything that clearly defines what I'm looking for. Does anyone have a link for a trails/roads map for Montana? Something similar to this https://trails.idaho.gov/, like Idaho...
In some states (like my home state of WI) most of the areas with standards that let the age class go up are in areas with almost exclusively private property. That leaves someone with those goals to either try to buy or lease land in those areas. I recently purchased a small piece of land in...
I've hunted 6 and 9 for the late muzzleloader season. We always had a lease or access to private so we just sat easy food sources and saw ALOT of deer in both. Not sure what your situation is though so not sure that helps?
I've heard it's been dry as well. Re-read my original post and wanted to make sure no one thought I was trying to be a debbie downer. I'm really excited for the hunt, just looking for some input.
Got drawn for the 2nd muzzleloader season (3rd if you count the youth season) in GMU 13 in New Mexico. Not looking for anything other than for me to be be able to set my expectations. Have heard that this season can be he hit or miss. Thoughts?
