New phenomenon around here is the young well to do kids all tearing around on E bikes…way too fast.
Driving 25mph through a school zone these kids on E bikes go shooting by at 30+ and not even paying attention to traffic.
I kill more game solo...and hunt solo a fair amount. I just spent 8 days bowhunting elk solo. I does suck to process and pack the meat yourself....but you get over it. A couple little tricks makes it easier.
And personally I take my time boning these out as one mistake can be deadly.

I do it a lot. Now in my 60’s i just spent 8 days backpacked in for elk. Its not much fun getting them processed solo and packing meat.
I use a Zoleo and leverage Audible books
I shot those👆 and the Trailmakers for awhile out of my recurve.
I do like a tapered design head because they penetrate effortlessly....but those are so tapered the tips are weak and they bend easy.
Seems to me, with the additional performance we get from these Compounds....they get a little bit more critical of having everything perfect- like those skeletonized cams I've seen get bent twice from buddies falling and banging them on something. If you fall with these new compounds, make sure...
If a guy does a tiny bit of research, he would see that the success rate on archery elk in areas like OTC Co is about 6-7%.
Its silly to think you are going to stroll in there without many miles of boots on the ground research and kill a bull.
Personally, I get perturbed about what hunting has become due to social media…heck, not just hunting but everything.
It used to be; the guys that could do it, didn’t talk about it. Now everybody talks about it on social media, whether they can do it or not....... it’s all about your social...
Yep. The bow noise is a factor too.
I shot a moose -that had no idea I was there-with my recurve and it just stood there….I shot another arrow just for the heck of it, the mosse spun looking around…2 steps and down.
My compound is a little bit noisier, I just shot a bull elk 10 days ago with...
Equal Opportunity here.
I prefer A good base camp, but sometimes I spike out if its too far to go in and out to the animals.
This year was a good example. I found a pretty good spot 6 miles in. It was too far to go in and out every day and be there at first and last light so I backpacked in 4...
It's a beautiful thing when a critter just stands after being hit....looking around like, "What just happened"...then they fall over
No mech head guy can tell you what that feeling is like because they run like their tail is on fire.....
