    To my eye, this construction's main benefit is the lack of add-on/plastic pieces. I'd be curious to know if that upwards-facing/exposed stitching would create any water ingress issues. Pretty sure @Formidilosus will have some thoughts on this construction ... but also have a sneaking suspicion...
